Smithy at Last! (Open) (Undercity only)

[Steel Strike]

December 15th
Noon

Steel whittled out more from a block of wood while waiting for some metal to heat up. It had been a slow day thus far. Although he had stock weapons on demand, perhaps it'd be too early for anyone. Regardless, he continued to whittle, so as not to let his thoughts wander during work. The knife he used was specially made for this kind of work, going long periods without being sharpened. He concentrated on his work behind the counter. He got up momentarily to check the piece of metal he was cooking. It wasn't quite done so he returned to the shop front.

[Tisis Antony]

A heavily cloaked figure entered the shop, knocking on the doorway as he pressed in. "I was told there was a master-smith in residence here- it doesn't look to be a falsehood. Are you taking commissions right now?"

The figure spoke with a very smooth, almost sing-song voice, with very little rise in pitch or tone. He relaxed against a sturdy stone post that supported the roof in part.

[Steel Strike]

Steel stops whittling and looks up at the cloaked figure. He looked big. A little too big. He readied his dagger under his counter. "I am. What can I do you for?" he asks politely. He hoped he wouldn't cause trouble.

"Ah, excellent. I am in need of a specially forged weapon, using the best materials that you can supply. I am willing to pay top dollar, if you will take this commission."

The figure removed a large scroll from a pocket in his cloak, and scrolled through it a bit to get to what he needed. "In terms of how it's made, I leave that to you're discretion- after all, you are the master smith, not I. But I do have some requests."

He placed the scroll on the table where Steel could see it, reaching up with one claw to point out the picture. "Leave a chamber- right here, in the hilt. I wish to have it enchanted further down the line, and I think it'd help if there was a chamber on the hilt. What do you think," he asked the master smith.

The knife was long, and narrow, and was drawn without much of an edge. the handle broad, and designed to fit snugly in a single talon'd grip. The cross-grip was small, but prominent (smaller then the one in that image, more discrete).

The Praetor waited for some input from the smith.

[Steel Strike]

The smith nodded "That could be done by tomorrow's time." . He could definitely do that invasion days time. However the question popped into his head as the band pointed out. Here's a Griffon. A rather Shady looking Griffon Inn the Undercity. This filled him with a slight fear of being discovered. "May I ask how a Griffon ended up down here?" he asked politely.

[Tisis Antony]

"I've been down here, spreading the good word of the resistance to my wayword Griffon brethren. This knife that you are forging, is a showpiece for a ceremony I'm performing, ritually cutting out out my brethren's prior animosity and hatred for ponykind."

He gestured emphatically to the roof. "It is a blight on the character of my people that we grotesquely cast aside our higher faculties to satisfy carnal desires of hunger and greed."

He brought a talon to his face. "I feel... great shame and inadequacy at all times for the actions of my brothers." The entire time he spoke, he refused to alter the tone of his voice, keeping that steady, mid-pitch monotone.

[Steel Strike]

Steel was still highly skeptical. This Griffon didn't have the tone of a remorseful or regretful Griffon. It was flat. And maybe that was just his character. He weighed his ideas. If this Griffon was apart of the Tsar he'd be obligated to describe this place in detail. However if so why hadn't he already ratted them out? Simply for supplies? Or maybe truth was the simpler answer . He sighed. "I'll have it ready by tomorrow. But so help me if this blade hurts anyone of ponykin I'll make sure it doesn't happen again." he added. He gave the Griffon the benefit of the doubt.

[Tisis Antony]

"Thank you, so very much. How much will this cost me?"

(I am using the informal arrangement that 1bit = 1dollar until the econ doc is released.)

[Steel Strike]

Steel shrugs. "I'd say 50 bits on the low end. Since you want the best. 75 is the normal for something small like this of this quality." he said.

[Tisis Antony]

The Praetor dropped a bag of bits. "I've got eighty with me. Just take the whole thing- and thanks again. You are doing griffonkind a great service."

[Steel Strike]

Steel took the bits and put them under the counter. "Anytime..." he said awkwardly.

[Prism]

Prism made his way through the sewers in his normal brown coat that he would wear if he was going above ground, but he had a stop before he would headed up.

He walked in steel workshop, he had been in here a number of time on rebel business but this time he was here for something a bit more personal.

[Steel Strike]

Steel nodded to Prisim. "Heya Prisim. What can I do ya for?" he asked politely to the stallion. He had seen him a few times before on rebel business but not much else. He always thought he was the tough type judging by all the scars.

[Prism]

"Good... what ever time of date it is," being underground don't help with scene of time.

"I am here on a personal business, as have seen your skills and worked with the rebels I feel I can trust you with this," He said as he pulled off his coat with his magic to some so very battered amour that was clearly a lot of battle damage and not new looking damage this looked old a number of years old.

"What can you do with this," as he move so Steel could get a better look at it.

[Steel Strike]

Steel saw the many stress cracks from the years of misuse.  He couldn't believe the thing hadn't broken into pieces by now.  "Well you've taken either very good care of it or had a really good smith."  he said and asked "Can I see it off of you?"

[Prism]

Prism smiled "Well if I had a good smith wouldn't need it repairing. Come give me a hoof it goes faster that way," As he started what would be a 10mins or so getting his amour off.

"I want you to make sure it don't lose the rank or the unit badge" theses where on the right and left shoulder pads.

[Steel Strike]

Steel nods. He helps the armor off and begins to examine it in kind. He looks closely at the fractures. "Late war period I'm guessing is when you received it. Armor like this would have cloth padding in it otherwise." he said noting how painful this armor must be to wear. "And late war material was notably weaker than armor before the war. Since resources were plentiful. He took a look at the hoof attachments. " Dear Celestia there's no padding in these either. That's rather remarkable. It's also surprisingly thin. Though not unexpected ssince it's late war. Earlier on it was thicker since hooves were considered vital targets. The griffons didn't see it that way. " he said. " all in all its salvageable but I'm going to have to redesign it big time if it's to fit and last long. " he stated.

[Prism]

Prism nodded as Steel helped him remove it "You are the amour smith here, I trust your skill and knowledge. This armour may have not been the best but its got me through hell and back," 

He removed the shoulder pads from it. One showing the rank of Captain and the other of a badge that said 4th GWU and seam to depict seven ponies and a batpony, one of them could still be seen as Prism. "I only ask that theses are added to the amour and are not damaged in anyway"

[Steel Strike]

Steel took the Patches. "Yes of course." he said taking the patches and setting them aside. Someone who has saved the armor this long surely kept it as a means of protection and for severe sentimental value. "I can have it ready by the end of the week. Is that acceptable?" he asked.

[Prism]

"If that is how long it takes then you take that time. I am happy to wait for quality work," has he took of the last of the amour he had on. 

"What will be the charge for this," as he picked up his brown coat.

[Steel Strike]

Steel thought it over. "For anyone else? 150. You? 100." he said and added. "I can also take payments over time if it's a bit steen for you." he took the armour in his hooves, obviously not using magic and took it behind into the smithing area, reappearing moments later at the counter. He took the badges and placed them under the counter next to a whittling sculpture of his.

[Prism]

Prism nodded "I will have to do it over time or maybe get hold of some materials for yourself if payment in bits comes a bit harder for myself" Bits where not easy for him to come by being underground and he normally used what he had left helping the rebellion.

[Steel Strike]

Steel nodded. "Take your time. I'm glad to help out where I can. And if your looking to gather materials I'd suggest looking in the West residential district topside. Plenty of crumbling infrastructure to smelt down for later." he said with a warm smile.

[Prism]

Prism pulled up the hood on his coat "I will remember that," he said, making a note to visit there at some point so he could pay back steel. He then turned and made his way out of the store feeling a lot more naked.

[Steel Strike]

Steel began to think of ways to strengthen the armor. If it was up to him he'd scrap it entirely but knew Prisim wouldn't like that. He took out the wooden block again and began to whittle. He could reheat and bring the two pieces together though that would provide little in the way of fixing it. The best way to go about it would be to add more metal in between the cracks and fusing the metal together again. He thought it over and decided that was the best course of action and resolved to do so.
