A Most Murderous Date with Destiny

[Starlight Charmer]

December 15th, Year four. Midnight.

Star rubbed her eyes as she walked out of The Retching Catch , various mixtures of alcohol and the like inebriating her. She had just gotten away with fifty bits in bets on a card game, although she had lied her way to that amount, through cheating and swindling, and knew to probably never go to that specific tavern again, lest she want her rib cage in her skull. She swayed about as she left the place, ready to find somewhere to call it quits. She stared at the serene and clear night sky, hoping to get figure out what time it is, but not a single star visible because of single, giant cloud that obscured her vision. Hiccuping, she resorted she should probably find shelter before she was seen outside by any patrols, or seen by any of the various muggers that the common rabble could normally find.

Snow Breeze quietly stalked through the many alleyways the large city provided. A dark grin stuck to the albino mare's face while slowly patrolling her little nook of the large city. It had been a few days since the last blood spilled by one of the many knives hidden within her purple work vest. Keeping herself low to hide her pure white body from view of any patrols or possible targets, she continued silently on her way. After just a few moments longer, something caught her eye. A changeling? It had truly been a while since she carved into one of them.

The mare brought a hoof up to her muzzle and forced the muscles around her mouth to remove the excited grin she had gained from the sighting and replaced it with a more innocent expression. Picking up her pace ever so slightly, she approached the exit of the alleyway. "C-could you help me? I'm lost and need to get back home before those meanie griffons find me."

Star did a back flip in surprise, gaining a slight headache from performing the activity while inebriated. "W-well, miss, y-you of your pegasus nature, miiiight wanna just use yoour wings and fly up there, make a clean lil' hut. O-or you can simply c-crawl throoogh to da buildins' over der," and gestured first, to the massive amount of cloud in the sky, and then to some of the abandoned buildings. The more she conversed with this albino pegasus, the more she wanted to run away, screaming like a little filly. literally. There just seemed something....Off about her. But, her curiosity got the best of her, and stayed there a little longer, instead of doing her heart's hopes.

Snow glanced up towards the sky and shook her head softly. "I would, but I pulled something in my wing today and can't fly..." She replied softly, withholding a devious grin upon seeing the state of her current target. Drunk of her little flank...perfect. She silently thought to herself.

"It's just a little ways from here and I would feel a lot safer if I had somepony with me on the way home..."

Star wasn't liking this white mare less and less. But bad decisions come from good beer, as she said. "Hey, now, cutie. You shud have NO probleeeemo with dem gurds, they wudnn't hurrt a a sweeetie liike you. Buuut if ye reaaally wanna walk home wit me, das fine, too." her drunken state severely hindering her speech. She took a few steps forward, teetering about, giggling a little, with hiccups in between.

Snow gave the changeling a sweet smile before moving herself a bit closer to her. "Thank you very much." She said politely with the same practiced tone of voice. Turning her head away ever so slightly, she grinned softly and lagged just behind her new company in hopes of falling just enough out of view to reach for her vest. "You are very nice."

Star glanced back at the albino pony. "What was your name, Your Royal Tallness? Mine's Starlight Charmer. Pleasure to meet yew." Blinking, she buzzed her wings a bit, and then transformed into a griffon patrol, to make it seem less conspicuous and make them less likely to be caught. Why am I so afraid of her? She doesn't look dangerous. But there's just something about her...., she thought, her heart quickly picking up beat.

Snow smiled her smile while turning her head back towards her escort. "You can just call me Wind." She smiled warmly, taking a piece off of the name the griffons had long given her: The Windego. Taking her chance, the pegasus swiftly snacked a closed switchblade from her vest, keeping the closed weapon hidden under her hoof while casually walking along further. "What about you? What's your name?"

Wind, Wind, Wind.... Where has Star heard that name before? She tried to think past the drunken haze that clouded and befuddled her thoughts, but only came up with nothing, and shrugged, planning to figure it out later.  "Soooe, where are yer parunts, keddo? Diju leave them er did semtin happen two dem?" she said, blinking away the crust from her eyes. I hope dis kid can get home. I jus wanna go sleeeep.

Kid? She thinks I'm a kid? Beautiful. Snow thought to herself while following along, inching a bit closer to her escort. "My parents aren't too much farther away from here." She responded simply, playing along with the opportunity she had been given. Shifting her hoof ever so slightly, the blade of her hidden weapon quickly snapped into place.

Expression quickly darkening, a white hoof threw its self from the ground to swiftly swing the blade at her target. "Well...they would be, if they were still here." Voice suddenly more serious, a few dark chuckles escaped the pegasus' muzzle.

Star gasped as she felt the blade pierce her shoulder blade, wincing as blood spurted out. "Ooooh, now dash whur I herd de neam befour." she said, wishing she had actually made a friend. Star then bounded off with a limp in her left foreleg, as fast as her drunken state would allow her, and hid in the first apartment she could get into, the searing pain in her left side was suppressed greatly by the alcohol in her blood, but she could still feel it, much as one would feel a wasp sting in the same area, over and over.

"Run, run or you'll be done." Snow laughed coldly. Seeming to be enjoying giving her latest target a touch of a head start, the albino mare swiftly galloped after her once her blade was safely tucked back into her vest. Traveling the exact route she had seen the changeling take, she quickly climbed into the window of the apartment. "I only want to play a fun little game..."

Star threw her voice in hopes of not being found, as not only was she defenseless, she couldn't run. "UNLESH EES SPEN DA BOTTEL, AEM NET EENTURESTED!" Tears started to well in her eyes as she hid on top of a moldy closet. I doon't wanna dieee! I have so much to live for! she thought, as she silently weeped.

Snow glanced in the direction the thrown voice had come from, taking a few steps in the wrong direction. Keeping her motions slow and deliberate, the made sure that all of her senses were on high-alert to make sure she wouldn't allow her prey to escape. Looking through the location she thought she heard the changeling, she shook her head softly upon finding nothing. "You can only hide from me for so long..."

A small smirk grew onto Snow's face. The pegasus slowly reached into her vest and removed a small kitchen knife. Throwing said knife quickly and sticking it into a nearby wall, she hoped to tease a sound out of the target she couldn't see.

Star went dead quiet as she heard the quiet thump in the wall, and she went dead still, and stood up, making an extremely quiet bump on the closet. She then cast her duplicate, and made it run outside, screaming drunkenly. I hooope she neever fiiinds meee~! I don't wanna die. she thought, silencing a giggle that was forming in her throat.

Snow smirked upon spotted what she thought was her target. Stretching out her wings, she quickly thrust herself out of the doorway after the supposed changeling. "Somepony should have been more quiet..."

Speeding up her pace in the air with a few more bats of her wings, she found herself closing in on the copy. Taking another small knife from her tool vest, the pegasus swiftly threw it at her prey with practiced precision.

The dagger fell through the illusion, and it clutched its back. And then laughed, saying, "Ah, ah, ah, Try again!" as it exploded into fine yellow mist. Star laughed silently with a horrified expression on her face. When that murderous rat finds me, well, it's going to be angry murder. Oh fun, She probably wants to hang my intestines like streamers now... she thought, blaming herself for such stupidity.
