A Lonely Night[Private][Dated]

The light sounds of water pouring on the streets below resounded across his room as Xarith slowly trot in. He was just caught in the heaviest part of the storm as he was returning from yet another run through the city. He was only on a run to check his suppliers and what they had, not anticipating the intensity of the storm to become harsher as the hours rolled by.

Throwing his satchel and board haphazardly to the side of his desk, the zebra shook his mane and coat of the remaining wetness that hadn't already dripped off on his way there. Xarith, being much to tired to work much more, took his soaked cloak off himself and just lay it on the floor beside his bed before sleepily moving under the covers. Normally, the Alchemist would be working late into the night, but on a night like this with the sounds of rain to ease his mind, he didn't mind closing his eyes and drifting off into a restful sleep for just once.

Her eyes blurring from the downpour, Starlight stumbles through the unrelenting cascade of water. Must....Find shelter.... The flash of lightning illuminating the air for a brief second, she quickly sees Xarith's shop from the bright light. Trudging through the rain, Starlight shivers visibly, tripping over herself and landing face-first into a puddle. lifting her head slightly as she gets up, she continues her escapade to the shop.

Arriving as a shuddering, wet mass at the door, she dries herself quietly, realizing that the denizens of the building were asleep. Creeping into the house, she slowly makes her way to the second level, tip-hoofing the entire way, as to not awaken the inhabitants. Arriving on the second floor, Star shivers violently, but slowly makes her way to Xarith's room.

Slowly pushing the door open, she creeps into the room, towards the Zebra's resting place. Peering down at the sound-asleep Zebra, she stealthily lifts the covers and crawls onto Xarith's upper torso, curling up as she levitates the blankets and sheet over herself and the sexy zebra. Closing her eyes for a much-needed rest, Starlight drifts into a peaceful respite.

Being the sleep deprived individual he was, Xarith was almost dead in his sleep as he didn't partake in an action such as this very often. Though, he wouldn't be able to miss something as obvious as a changeling sleeping on top of him. Late into the night, Xarith muttered something in his sleep only relevant to his dreaming mind before turning to his side to shift to a more comfortable position.

That would be around the time he woke up.
"...-What was that?" the alchemist said sleepily as his mind slowly began to process of reforming itself into a state where it could think clearly.

Due to the immense wave of weariness from trudging miles in the rain, Star didn't notice the awakening of Xarith, Or the words that were uttered. Instead she was off dreaming about herself and Xarith being married. Giggling in her sleep, she shifts over, Sleep overcome with her, and her dream.

Muttering nonesense in the peaceful drifts of sleep, Star unconsciously flutters her wings.

After his eyes adjusted to the low light of the darkened sky, Xarith saw clearly what had made its way into his bed as he had slept. "Oh yeah," he said quietly to himself. "I just remembered why I don't fall to sleep anymore." Hopping out of bed quickly, he moved over to one of the oil lamps and lit it to illuminate the room. There he saw the same changeling mare that had been visiting him and his shop quite recently, and always with another interesting situation to follow in her wake. Yet, this time he caught her sleeping in the same bed as him.

"That's a new one..." he said before he stepped back over and gently poked the 'ling with a hoof. "Hey... That's my bed you are sleeping in."

Awakening at the touch, she quickly sits up, alert, as she scans for the intrusion of her dreams. Noticing that it was Xarith, she pales to make a marshmallow look black. Hearing the spoken words, she quickly hops off the bed.

"Oh, I guess it is your bed, sorry." Curling up on the floor, Starlight closes her eyelids again, her sleepiness stinging at her eyes like an angry horde of Hornets.

The features on the zebra's face show one of a bit of confusion as the mare curls up on the floor and continues to sleep regardless. Trotting over, Xarith gently pokes her again on the side with a hoof. "Alright, I think a better response is: 'What are you doing back here, and even in my room?'" Xarith said curiously, trying to figure out why such a thing would even happen in the first place.

Opening a weary eye, she gazes upon the sheltered pony's figure. Realizing she was asked a question, she snaps alert. How to tell, without making him think of me less... her problem visibly showing on her face, she answers.

"Well, uh.... You see... I uhh, Don't have a home... " Shaking her head, she closes her eyes again, the sleep immense relief for her eyes.

Xarith's expression of curiosity and confusion still lingers on his features. He raised a brow as he turned his ears to the mare so that he could get a better sense of what she had whispered.

"I didn't quite catch that," Xarith said as he bents down closer to her so that she would have an easier time. "What did you say..?"

Starlight plops her flank down onto the floor, worry and embarrassment covering her features . Oh no. Time to break it to him...

"I'm Homeless."

There was a moment of silence in the room as the sounds of rain against the glass were the only sounds that could fill the emptiness. Xarith raised his hoof to speak before lowering it back to the ground. His weariness dominated most of his thoughts at this point, and all the alchemist could really think to do was fall back to a restful sleep.

"...-Well then," Xarith said quietly, only enough for the himself and the mare to hear in the oil lit room. "I am sorry to hear that..."

Dazedly looking at Xarith, she thinks to herself. Well. That went better than expected. "So...yeah. Is it okay if I...." Weariness overcame her mind, Her bones feeling like molten rock, Star curls up on the floor again, letting sleep overcome her as she drifts off into the world of dreams.

The zebra let out a tired sigh as he nudged the mare lightly with a hoof once more, trying to edge her out of sleep as gently as he could. "Hey... Now wait just a minute here," he said a bit louder than previous as another means to wake her.

Opening her left eye, she gives the zebra a sleepy stare, her crimson eye already rimmed with red.
Muttering under her breath, just barely audible enough so Xarith could hear, she asks "What is it. I'm tired."

After keeping his fixed expression for this time, Xarith finally let it slack and loosen into a more sympathetic look as his features softened. "The floor isn't a place for anyone to sleep on now," he said quietly to her.

Dazedly, Star rises from the floor, her eyes feeling like rocks. Shaking her head, she replies. "Then where do you propose I sleep then, hmm?"

Letting out a tired breath himself, Xarith just slowly trot over to the changeling and gestured her out the door and into the hallway with a hoof. Xarith then moved over to his oil lamp and took it with another hoof, using it to light his way around the room. "I have an extra room you can use to wait off the storm if you wish," Xarith said to her. "I wouldn't want someone sleeping on my floors if they are able to sleep somewhere more comfortably."

Blinking twice, her eyes half open, she nods to Xarith's reasonable solution. trudging out into the hallway, she wobbles slightly from lack of energy. The laws of gravity and weariness overcoming her, Star collapses to the ground, passing out as she does so, landing with a muffled thud. Her forelegs and hindlegs splayed across the floor in a somewhat revealing manner, Star cringes slightly, before continuing her peaceful slumber.

Cringing a little bit himself after following the changeling out into the hallway and seeing her fall to the floor, Xarith let out a light breath as he wondered who these things ever came to be in the first place. Placing the oil lamp in his mouth to be held, he trot over to the changeling, and with gentle movements he picked her up and placed her on his back before slowly making his way to the extra room.

The sounds of Xarith's hooves were the only thing that coupled with the sounds of rain outside as the shadows danced lightly to the oil lamp in the hall. Those sounds and sights were soon joined by the sounds of an old door and another dark room. Trotting in and placing the lamp on a nearby set of drawers, Xarith moved over to the bed and tugged at the sheets. Then the zebra gently placed the changeling on the bed and pulled the sheets over before taking the oil lamp and leaving the room, making sure to close the door behind him.

Maybe this is a sign that sleeping just isn't for me... Xarith thought to himself.

9-10 Am, Morning.

Starlight awoke, feeling well-rested, but with a slight headache. Stretching, Star hops off the bed. Oof, What happened... Giggling slightly for no discernible reason, Star saunters to the door, grinning while walking. Approaching the currently closed door, Star uses her limited magic to open the door. Shutting the door behind her, Star peers around at her surroundings. Noticing a faint residue from where she had previously been several hours ago, she giggles at the position the particles were arranged in.

Coming to a halt at the bottom of the stairs, she pulls fifty bits out of her satchel, levitating it onto the counter, giving a crimson smile to the sizzling-hot Zebra behind it. Trotting out of the shop, she gives one last sideways glance at the structure, before heading off into a puddle-filled Main Street.

Xarith sat there at the counter of his shop mostly bored with a slow day as per the usual. Thought, his quiet morning was suddenly interrupted by a certain changeling from the previous night. He watched as the mare levitated a sizable amount of bits his way before trotting out the door and out to the streets.

This wouldn't be the first time a look of confusion would come over his features in the past hours. Yet, the zebra just shrugged as be brushed the thought to the side for another day as he took a hoof and swept all the coins into his own satchel.
