Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
The crowd had calmed down, helped by the filly's singing somewhat because of how odd it was. The one's that were prepared for the worst relaxed and some even began to dwell away from the oval. The one's approaching stopped in their tracks, still unsure of the shadey pony.
Things were getting better, until 1 crowd member decided to silently throw a rock in the aims of hitting Shade, whether it hit or not the pony didn't know, but it was followed up by, "Liar! You probably have weapons under that cloak!" said a feminine voice.
One hostile action led to another, "Yeah! Prove you don't have anything to do with attacking our leader!" came a masculine voice. Others of the crowd followed with agreeing 'Yes's and some were daring enough to attempt to get close and check themselves if Shade had any weapons or evidence of betrayal.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Scanion took interest in the crowds strange formation now that he could see past the slowly diminishing red smoke.
They surrounded a certain pony, was it his pet? No, the figure was too black, it was someone else. Their suspicions were drawn to a different target, which was good. But something about that black pony bothered him...
Regardless, he saw the the riot leader was beyond saving. He would call his assassin back to him but that would risk his position to the crowd, whatever she was doing was taking it's time.
Then it clicked to him, Black pony, black magic. Could that be who he was after? The information he got from his other targets helped lead to that conclusion, but he was still very uncertain. He was close, but couldn't risk even investigating. He simply had to wait until Void's return, and continue observing.

Scrapper also took an interest now that he could see into the crowd, and he really wanted his eye's to be betraying him right now.
Being closer to the ring of ponies made seeing who was inside that ring much easier, and if he was seeing Shade amongst that, well, he was hoping he was daydreaming or something. But no matter how many excuses he made, it was her.
Worry visibly began to take it's place, Scrapper was feeling a lot warmer and pulled his facemask down to try and stop his own breathing from making him choke on reality.
What should he do? He could go out and help, but that would almost certainly make it worse. He didn't even want to think about staying in the building even though he had to protect Silver, but staying would possibly stop it from escalating if Shade was capable of calming them down.
He was emotionless right now, other than worry, he showed nothing. His thoughts were lost in hatred for himself for not going out to help Shade, and every single member of that crowd. But even he knew it was best to stay inside, and hope for the best.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Off in the distance, a sharp crack like thunder ripped through the air over the din of the riots. Shortly after the first sound, a few more like it were heard. The sudden noise made Kroll jolt slightly, but upon realizing what it was, he signaled to the rest of the squad. "Alright! Heads down, bows up! Here comes the rain!" he shouted through his thick mask as he got low to the rooftop, getting his crossbow ready to fire.
As if on cue, the air above the riots was filled with a harsh screaming sound moments later as mortar shells began to rain down on the crowd below, dispersing their payload of noxious smoke, a product of the burning sulphur, wood, pitch, and crushed pepper within the shells of each round. "Remember! Airborne and squirters first!" the captain called out to his fellow guards over the chaos below. "Fire on my mark! Three...! Two..! One! Mark!"

The crowd suddenly started screaming as shells of white gas came down this time, causing ponies within the areas that were struck to cover their eyes, cough and yell in pain. They started to collapse, visibly struggling to breath as the white gas started to spread slowly, aided by more shells raining down on them.
Most pegasus rioters watched in shock, which also stopped them from noticing the initial attack of crossbow griffons. The less skilled fliers also couldn't avoid the shots, but those who knew how to fly weren't too happy about being shot. Knowing the gas caused a lot of problems, a lot of pegasi began to move towards the griffon's firing at them, with the intent of tearing off their masks. To let them join in the pain thanks to the shells that hit the rooftops rather than the ground below.
A couple of shells landed around the rioters circling Shade and Hijinks, causing the crowd to panic and run in all directions while they were still able. Pushing past them, away from the approaching gas would be difficult, especially with some ponies not thinking straight, and blaming Shade for something she clearly didn't do, trying to attack her in the process.
The riot leader, had basically given up by this point. He had predicted this, but could answer the question of why he didn't just tell them to go home. He sat down, and merely waited for his own death.

Void realized that she was in danger. Smoke filled suddenly the air and it got hard to breathe. She held her breath and flung her coat so that she could spread her wings and flew up. There she saw that other pegasi got shut down by crossbow arrows, so she flew not too much above the crowd towards the end of the crowd. She didn't flew directly to her master since there could be somepony or -griffon following her. A last look at the hammer pony told her that he was surely to die.
Void knew that she hadn't enough air in the lungs to keep on like this much longer. She looked for the griffons that shot the arrows but they were attacked by angry pegasi which was luck for her. She managed to flew to the first row of houses before her sight blurred and she collapsed. There she laid, toxic air in the lungs and unconcious. Hit by an arrow in her backside. The coat didn't cover all of her: there was a light blue wing and leg to be seen.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
The stone thrown at Shade hit the target, mostly thanks to coming from behind her. She spun around when she felt the impact on her left flank, and noticed a pony trying to get close to her. The suspicion that Shade had weapons beneath her cloak was definitely true, and though the shuriken and her cleaved combat knife wouldn't have fit the wound, but the throwing knifes might. And she had no intention to reveal any of her weapons to them outside a fight. Though a fight pretty much seemed unavoidable.
The thought was proven right when the shells came down. The pony she had already noticed lost his caution when the chaos reached its momentary peak and attacked her straight on, with merely a shovel as weapon. His first swing was targeted at her head, wide and powerful, but completely useless as it hit nothing. Shade had ducked down and stepped to the side, letting only a hoof with a blade stay in the way of his charge. He probably was dead before he realized it, but for Shade the battle was only beginning. Others were coming at her, and she couldn't watch in all directions at once, as the stone just a few moments ago had proven.
Taking the probably last breath of acceptably clean air she would get here, Shade looked around for the filly and picked her up in her magic while dodging another attack without disposing of the assailant right away. "Watch my back!" she simply said, just loud enough to be heard to save her breath, as she placed small passenger on the mentioned body part.
Two attackers were coming again, one from each side. Fools, Shade thought and darted away, not caring if they managed to stop their charge before they crashed into one another or not. Using a pony as stepping stone for a high jump, she got a momentary overview of the distance she needed to cross to the nearest building, and allowed her to cross the first few meters easily, but the cost on her kept breath was too high to repeat again, and her eyes unfortunately were quickly beginning to tear up from the acrid sting of the smoke. A constantly changing labyrinth in front of her, and ponies wanting to kill her behind. And all she had as help was a little filly.
Well, at least it was a filly that was happy throwing bombs around. That might count for something.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Nope, nope, nope.
If there was any sense in him now it was gone. Shade was in trouble, but in far less trouble than she could have been. What bothers him is that she was heading to a area that was not gassed yet, which mean't it was about to be gassed or worse, full of the ponies that had suspected Shade to be a traitor. All he knew, is that if she stopped for even a second, she'd be in trouble.
Despite the most likely arguments Silver gave him, he made his way down the stairs and burst out the door, the first thing that caught him was the sting of the air. The next, was a scream from above that made him duck inside again. When he looked to see what it was, the Pegasi were dealing at least some damage, because a griffon had been stabbed and unable to fly, then fell off the building. What did catch his eye, was the gasmask he was wearing. He immediately took it off of the fallen griffon and tried it on, and it fit. It was made for a beak, but it still did it's job.
He started moving in the same direction as Shade, towards the yet to be gassed area. She had a head start, so no doubt she'd be there before him.
Unfortunately, that was confirmed when he was almost stabbed in the side. The look on his attackers face showed fear, and it clearly showed that he wanted the mask he was wearing
His thoughts were side tracked to this pony, "How friggin' dare you think you could stop me." is all he thought. The pony was already crawling on the ground, unable to breath properly. Scrapper didn't know what had overcome him into doing what he did next. He stood up on his back hooves, towering over this unknown pony, lifted his right-hind leg, and brought it down onto his attackers head. Repeatedly crushing his skull between the ground and his strength until he stopped moving.
Even after he did the deed, he showed no change in thought, he turned and continued down towards Shade until he heard others who were still able to walk and fight rush towards him for the same reason, the mask.
He didn't care, if he had to turn each and every one of them into a red mush on the ground, he would do it, he would kill them all.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
His comrades had arrived, and his pet was yet to return.
He had to assume she was out there still, the chance of her being killed was high. The captain of the mission knew what his pet looked like, so that made the chances better.
Regardless, it came time for him to leave. It was unwise for him to stay any longer. But rather than go through the streets, he went through building to building. Climbing out windows and flying across to the next building, he continued doing so as ponies below him panicked, and a familiar face caught his attention.
A pony had burst out of the building he just left, he recognised the attire he wore. He also got his first notice of how well the pegasi were doing, as he saw a griffon fall to his helpless death. He climbed into the safety of the building next to Silvers and looked out a window to the pony that bothered him before.
It was then, that he had figured out why he was bothered before. Whilst the pony was holding his breath, and looting the dead griffon of his mask, he got a clean look at his face.
His eye's widened in surprise, "You..."
He recognised his handiwork. The scar on that pony, the griffon's faction logo that covered the whole left-side of his face, the same one he cut into place.
He felt excited, if he managed to track down his target, he knew who to track next.
He eventually resumed his escape, unhindered by the chaos around him.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Hijinks sighed. Why does nopony sing with her? The stories said that ponies sung together all the time. Whatever, it's the shady pony's problem now. If she sung at least a few lines, she could have gotten out of there.
Hijinks' ears perked up at the sound of explosions. Then she saw the shelling. If she weren't in the middle of it, she would have found the sight pretty cool. The explosions released some cloudy gas. Looked unhealthy, which was supported by the screaming. Her thoughts were interrupted as she felt herself being enveloped in some magic-y stuff. She gave a small yelp of surprise as she was lifted up into the air. This was not how she wanted to fly!
She was deposited on the back of the rude magicking pony, which turned out to be shady-not-want-sing-song pony. "Watch my back!" Which was easy enough because that's where she was sitting.
"Sure!" She replied. She would have said more, maybe talk about the whole singing thing, but she took the time to take a deep breath in. Evident by the screaming, breathing in the gas would be unpleasant. Reaching into her satchel, she pulled out a bunch of her favorite bombs, the boom crackles! Striking a match against Zappy, she lit a few bombs, throwing them out behind her to dissuade pursuers. She grinned as she heard the sweet sound of crackling that her bombs produced, which was accompanied by ponies crying out in pain.
The rodeo was also fun. yee-haw!

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
A bomb-chucking filly, throwing bombs at rioters and riding on the back of an already suspicious pony? If that wasn't a recipe for disaster then you need to go home and think about your life.
Not only did additional healthy rioters from the bomb-free area know to indistinctly block the path the shady pony and her friend were taking, but there were pegasi among them as well, meaning it would be hard to get away unseen, many also attempting to attack Shade directly.
All this was unnecessary, because as Scrapper had deduced before, the area was a big problem because many rioters fled there from the gas. Shells began to rain down shortly after the rioters were finished blocking off Shade, directly hitting some and causing the gas to appear red as it came out of the canister to be replaced by a full white as it spread.
Panic ensued once again, the whole street was covered in gas and there was nowhere left to run except into buildings.
For the ones who were to close to the explosions, it was too late. Everyone else had to try and avoid prolonged exposure or they'd be in trouble.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Okay, maybe the bomb throwing wasn't actually a good thing. Still, the filly had been the only pony potentially on her side, so Shade had taken the chance, rather than to allow attacks from behind. Unfortunately, it also limited her mobility. She couldn't drop down onto her back, and even though the filly was quite light (almost like a pegasus in disguise) it was still more mass to handle in a situation where she needed to change direction quickly.
The first pony getting in the way was barely passed by, before a pegasus landed right in front of Shade, too near for her to evade. Her opponent had of course fully expected the crash, and was waiting for it with a big kitchen knife in his mouth. There was no avoiding collision, and the blade was held at the right height to possibly cause a lethal wound, but Shade's reflexes and equipment served her well. She magically pulled out her already blodied combat knife and lifted it to the height of the opponent's weapon, while her hoof was still rushing up to get a more secure hold on it.
The reason why Shade used a "fancy" cleaved blade was quickly apparent. The enemie's knife went into the gap until it hit the hilt, and when Shade had her hoof on it to deliver some real pressure, the attacker's jaw had to give up. The kitchen knife clattered to the ground, while Shade's weapon missed the opponen'ts face only by inches. A moment later the bodies crashed into each other, and though Shadowstrike quickly got the upper hoof (she still had her weapon, and several more under her cloak after all), when she was done she felt her lungs burning for fresh air, her sight already heavily compromised by heavy tearing thanks to the gas (not to mention the difficulty to keep her eyes open), and around her several ponies were about to attack her. Her path was blocked. Until it was bombed free, unfortunately not by the filly.
The last shell came down right on one of the attackers, leaving the pony dead, the way open, but with a big cloud of thick fumes in the way. Still, this was the way out. Everypony else was running away, so the path right through it was clear. Once Shade was in a proper building that didn't have all the windows smashed in, the air would be clean enough, even though a shell was right outside the door.
If Shade had any breath to spare, she would have warned the filly to close her eyes, but as it was, that would have been foolish. So the unicorn only followed the warning herself and gallopped ahead, right over the fallen shell and to the door of a building she had seen behind it before her sight had been too obscured. She was used to navigating blindly after getting only a short look at the environment, but now she suffered from a steadlily growing lack of oxygen, and disorientation was one of the subsequent problems. She found the building's wall soon enough, but a door? Was it left or right? Further to the right there had been a window, that was probably the better chance.
It took an imagined eternity to find it, and by the time she did, Shade was almost ready to draw in a breath despite the effects she knew it would have. She'd probably break down right where she stood, adding acrid smoke to a lack of air. The window she had found was, for better or worse, still whole. Smashing it in was easy, but climbing in while she was steadly weakening proved more difficult. She had entirely forgotten about the filly on her back (was she even still there?), and only had a mind for pulling herself over the edge. She felt herself gaining several cuts, but didn't care.
When she finally fell inside, she was lucky enough to land on her hooves and tried to put some distance between herself and the window before finally taking a breath, but after the first collision with some unknown piece of furniture, she lost the battle. The smoke streaming in through the window wasn't nearly as bad as the stuff outside, but it still send Shade coughing on the floor before she regained enough senses to open her eyes and find another room. There was a door only a few meters away that certainly didn't lead outside, so shade quickly made her way to it and bolted inside, luckily finding relatively fresh air.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Hijinks eventually got tired of throwing bombs behind her. Not because it was boring, but because hanging onto the shady pony seemed a higher priority at that moment. She closed her eyes and hung tightly onto the back of the black pony. Her lungs were on fire, begging for oxygen, but Hijinks never gave in. The rodeo got a little bumpy at times, but she clung on for dear life.
Eventually, after what seemed like an eternity, she heard her ride stumble over something, followed by a fit of coughing. She took this a sign that they were in a relatively safe location to take a breather. Air filled her lungs, but it tore at her, stabbing her with agony. She closed her mouth again, cause that air was nasty. She opened her eyes, finding herself in a building. She was still clinging onto the black pony, but she didn't pay much attention to Hijinks.
Her ride ran into another room of the house that was pure of the gas. Hijinks took another deep breath, savoring the non-painful air that filled her lungs. She let go of the black pony and fell to the floor with a thump. She closed her eyes and laid there on the floor.
"Nap time..." She said quietly. Though she didn't really sleep, she was just closing her eyes for a moment.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Kroll swore through his mask as he saw some of the pegasai manage to break through the layer of gas from the mortars, and shouted at his men to focus their fire on the rioters that were coming at them. While some of the other containment teams that were entrenched across the way were able to knock some of these rioters out of the sky, it certainly wasn't an easy task.
The captain's attention was briefly drawn away from the incoming attackers when one of the soldiers from his squad attempted to flee from the fight, only to be intercepted by the rioters and sent plummeting to the streets below. And even though he felt sadness over the loss of a fellow soldier, the tercel was furious that the fool tried to abandon his brothers when they needed him the most.
Redirecting his attention to the situation at hand, Kroll saw as Aella leapt from her spot on the rooftop and took to the sky to engage the oncoming rioters, dropping them out of the sky with precise blows with. The captain's admiration for his asset's effort was cut short as a hoof smashed him across his face, causing him to hit the ground like a sack of bricks as his protective mask to became dislodged from his face, clattering on the ground a few feet away from him along with his crossbow. Great. Shaking off the pain of the blow, the captain could feel the gas begin to affect him, his mucus membranes feeling as if they had been set ablaze as they reacted to the airborne chemicals. Still, the tercel did his best to ignore the pain, as he slowly picked himself off the ground, trying to get a good view of the rioter who had managed to reach the rooftop through the tears and mucus that was streaming from his eyes and nostrils.
The rioter let out some kind of infuriated screech before charging at the captain, clenching some kind of cleaver in its teeth. With his crossbow too far to retrieve quickly and his face feeling like it was being set on fire, Kroll hurriedly backpedaled away from the oncoming pegasus as best as he could, trying to pull out the rifle that was slung across his back.

Other rioters looked for the same safety as Shade and her companion, though others went to different places, a few had taken refuge in the same building as Shade.
Their desperation led them to notice that the broken window was slowly letting in gas, and led them to attempt getting into other rooms of the building.
The pegasi were still holding strong, the gas was beginning to make some of them give up but though most were going down, many were still tearing the masks of of other griffon's.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
How many had he denied the right to live just getting to this point? It didn't matter, nothing mattered but finding Shade.
But when he reached what he recognised as the former 'gas-free' zone, his fears had come true. Not only could he barely see with the gas and his vision acting strangely, panic now began to set in.
Where was she? Did she make it out? What if she's lying in the middle of this in pain? What if she is...
Scrappers thoughts suddenly went blank without finishing his worst thought. He could still see more rioters trying to kill him for his mask, and there were a lot more this time from the recent crowd, but instead of readying to fight, he looked down to his hooves.
The blood that covered him started flashing red like an emergency light, the small bit of coloured detail he could still make out on the ground started to fade into black and white. He only had one question, "What the hell is happening to me!?"
His breaths were heavy, he felt sick and in pain, but then he thought of Shade again. His reason for living, the reason that could have died in this fog, the reason these rioters could have stolen from him, the reason that paid the price because of these rioters, the only pony he knew he could trust and feel safe with... taken from him by these Rioters!!
"I'll kill you all... I'll kill... every last one of you..." Escaped his mouth before he held his hooves to his head.
"I'll kill... EVERY SINGLE BLOODY ONE OF YOU!" He shouted, before letting out a blood-curdling yell that echo'd through the streets, through the ears of anybody in the near area.
That yell signalled birth of something different, slowly lowering his head to look at the crowd, who had stopped dead in their tracks, the last thing they were going to see was the glowing red eyes, shining through the mask they so dearly craved.
What followed that unnatural yell, was screams of pain from the unlucky souls that were the target of this Feral pony.

The first clean breath was followed by another coughing fit before the remains of the gas had mostly left Shade's lungs. The thud of her passenger falling down went unnoticed at first, but the sound of her voice finally reminded the unicorn of her presence. Shade threw a short look at her and couldn't see noteworthy injuries, and thus simply left her to rest while taking in the rest of the room. They had stumbled into a kitchen, surprisingly not entirely looted. In fact, it seemed to be still in use, though it certainly had seen better days. The stove was old and rusty, and the few pots lying around looked like they were looted from the street. The sink hadn't spilled out water for a long time, and most of the shelves were unusable. But the (relatively) fresh ingredients stored on the still suitable ones were a clear sign that somepony lived here. The question was if they were home.
Hasty hoofsteps from the room she had just come from caught Shade's attention. Quickly she pressed her body (including an ear) against the door to avoid anybody coming in, and listened. Only a moment later the handle was pressed down, and the door pushed against from the other side. It felt panicked. But Shade didn't budge. "Let us in! Please!", begged a male voice, before succumbing to the smoke and producing only a lot of caughing.
"Sorry, but you brought this upon yourself", Shade whispered coldly, assuming that they were rioters, and held against the weakening attempts to open the door. If it were the inhabitants of this building, they would certainly know other rooms to flee into.

Hijinks' nice nap was interrupted by banging on the door. "Five more minutes," She grumbled, turning onto her belly. When the noise didn't stop, she groggily lifted her head up to find herself in a kitchen. Shady was blocking the door from the rabble rousers. Good on er!
Hijinks got up, and stretched a bit before skipping towards the door. All signs of being affected by the gas had disappeared. She stopped besides Shady and started yelling at the door, "Sorry! But to get in, you need the super secret password! And that password is..." Pause for dramatic effect. "mumble mumble mumble" She mumbled, covering her mouth to further muffle her speech. "No password, no entry!" She laughed.
Finally bored with said door, she decided to scour the kitchen for treats or food of any kind. "Hey Shady," She called out to her pony friend, "I call dibs on first find, kay?" Dibs is super sacred ritual. It must be respected.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Shade watched the filly's reaction with hidden curiosity. So far she had had little time to think about it, but there was a not ending list of oddities. This little pony tolled around in riots, she didn't care for Shade killing others in cold blood, and now teased the ones kept suffering by Shade. And I thought what I'm currently doing is already cruel enough. The raised eyebrow wasn't recognizable under her hood.
Once the attempts from outside had ceased, Shade pulled out a picklock and got to locking the door. It was a very simple thing, so it only took a few moments before she heard the click.
"I call dibs on first find, kay?"
With another look around the room, Shade shrugged. "I don't think there's anything of interest to me in here. But I would suggest not completely emptying everything, whoever uses this has probably done nothing to us." Though she said it casually, the very fact that she had just given advice on moral behavior somewhat troubled her. She wasn't somepony to care for anypony else except her friends, but she still had some basic rules in regard to others. Mainly, if they did nothing to her, she would leave them mostly alone and not unnecessarily cause them problems, like for example an empty kitchen. Normally that meant little enough, but now she actually had doubts somepony else would be at least that considerate. True, there were many who would simply take everything, but here it was about a little blue filly making a show of being happy, and seeming generally friendly. And yet, she didn't care about the lifes of others at all. Though their personalities obviously differed greatly, Shade had to notice that at least this one point they had in common.
A trickle along her left frontleg called her out of her thoughts, and she raised the hoof out of the cloak. There was a trace of blood that instantly reminded Shade of the broken window she had crawled through. A complete check of her body revealed several cuts on her legs and belly, luckily none of them large enough to be concerning, but non the less annoying. And Shade didn't have enough material to bandage it all up without cutting her cloak into pieces. Two strips of cloth she had with her that she quickly applied to the two biggest cuts on her legs, but while she was working on the second one, she noticed something odd. Most of her shuriken's were where she expected them to be, but one had wandered. The only one that could wander without Shade's doing. Scrapper had moved outside, he was in the smoke covered street!
"Scrappy, what are you doing?", she mumbled to herself - louder than she had intended - while staring in his direction - where there was only the kitchen wall. The stupor only held for a moment before the unicorn finished the second bandage and got to open the locked door again. There was no way she was going to let him stay out there on his own!

Aella let out an eagle-like shriek and pulled a tight turn as she went after the pegasi that had slipped past her. She tucked her polearm under her arm like a lance, with the wooden butt sticking out before her and flew directly at an unlucky rioter.

Silver Lining couldn't get herself to watch the ponies outside for long. She had only wanted to end this, but it was only becoming worse. She had actually thought to know what she was facing when she decided to go out here, since this wasn't her first time in a city in a state of chaos. Trottingham... had been different, she had to admit now. There the victims were windows and doors, to get access to the things of value inside. Mostly food, as the siege had continued. It had been easier to control the ponies back then. But now, they were too filled with hatred too deeply rooted thanks to the long years of the occupation. At least the griffons actually seemed to be proceeding non-lethal, from what Silver could tell.
So Silver quickly turned away from the window, and didn't notice Scowler tensing up. "Whoever this mysterious warning came from, couldn't they also find a way out? I'm assuming you have some kind of outlook watching over us." she asked, and turned to him when she didn't get an answer. "Scowler?" Before she even realized what was happening, the stallion dashed past her, and down the stairs. Silver whirled around to follow him, but when she got far enough to see the ground floor, he had already left the building. "What in Equestria's name is he doing?!?"
With no intention to go out into that nasty smoke, she went back to the window Scowler had been watching from, and first of all noticed that the chaos was still growing. The second thing she noticed was Scowler... smashing in the skull of one of the rioters. Her shock at that action would be open to see for Harmless, as she did nothing to hide it. She grew pale as her supposed bodyguard continued beating his bloody way through the crowd, to who knows which destination. She didn't know what drove him, but one thing was certain for her: That pony was completely mad! "Today wants to show me worst of ponykind, it seems", she finally pressed out, somewhere in a mix of disgust, hopelessness, and anger. Even the rebels around her apparently were wild monsters.

Harmless did notice Silver's state of shock, but he really couldn't blame her. The 'bodyguard' was ripping those ponies to shreds like a crazed beast. He saw the chaos unfold from behind the window, and it made him sick.
"That's not ponykind." Harmless stood next to Silver, looking at the wave of destruction from the window. "The war and the occupation are destroying ponies as a race. Destroying their identity. What you see here is not ponkykind, it is the beast of Equestria." His voice rang out through the room with certainty. It's a cold truth. And even if Equestria was freed, the beast would remain.
He kept his eye on 'Scowler', wincing slightly whenever he bashed in the head of a random rioter. Even though it was pretty grim, he couldn't help but find some humor in the situation. "A bodyguard called Harmless, and another that's completely insane. That's luck for you." he mumbled to himself.

Hijinks stopped searching through the ruined cabinets for a second to check on Shady. She was staring at a wall. It wasn't a very nice wall, so Hijinks had no idea why she was so focused on it. Some ponies are just plain crazy.
Before she could offer a witty comment, the shady pony moved to the door and started fiddling with the lock. She was going outside was the obvious conclusion. Naturally, Hijinks decided to stay inside this room where it was safe... Ha ha! Yeah right, like that will ever happen. Hijinks ran up behind Shady and jumped up on her back again. They were going on an adventure!
"Where are we going?" She questioned excitedly. "Watcha doin there? Are we leaving yet? Can we stop for ice-cream? How many apples can you fit in your mouth at the same time? Are we stopping for apples? Can I have mine coated in caramel?" Her barrage of questions did not leave any space for answers.

"This won't be a fun trip. There's somepony I need to get off the street", Shade replied rather monotonously while working on the lock. "If you want to breath freely, you should stay here. Otherwise, just warn me when somebody is approaching from behind, and don't raise attention."
When she opened the door, a wave of smoke emediately washed over them. Shade had expected it, and had her eyes closed and her breath kept. Luckily, the amound of smoke in the other room wasn't as problematic as outside, but she still only opened her eyes for a short moment before making her way to the window blindly, easily stepping over the two rioters who had tried to get in and without bumping into anything this time. Apart from the path to the window, she had noticed something else: A body underneath a cloak she seemed to recognize. It seemed that the assassin from earlier didn't make it out safely.
Another short look through the window reveiled several ponies beaten to death in close proximity, but no immediate sign of Scrapper. That somepony had created a carnage only raised her worries, but with every moment she looked, the biting of the smoke in her eyes grew more unbearable, she couldn't see far, and she needed to take a breath at some point. She knew Scrapper's direction of course, thanks to the shuriken he carried, but the way to him through this foggy hell would be more than difficult. Definitely she wouldn't be able to efficiently fight once she was there.
In a moment's decision, she darted back to the kitchen and went for a window there, leading out the backside of the house. The way was longer, but at least she could breath.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Rioters heard the screams of death, though many just knew to leave the area, some just felt it was right to go and help whoever was in trouble.
Biggest mistake of their lives.
Up in the air, the pegasi were starting to lose the fight. Although they took a few griffons down, they were either finally caught by the gas, or too wounded to continue. Upon realizing this, many who were still able began to flee.
What the Griffons would finally be able to notice with their pegasi problem dealt with, is that some pegasi were flying injured and in-pain ponies up onto unoccupied rooftops. Among these wounded, easily visible blunt impact wounds, broken bones and even missing jaws and wings.
Having taken the non-lethal route, one would wonder where these serious injuries came from.

"If ponykind has already been degraded to this, then what are we fighting for?" A moment after speaking the thought, Silver already regretted it. She couldn't allow herself to show how this brought her down, not in front of those who she was supposed to lead. Her expression grew into an expressionless mask as she left the window once again and began properly searching the house, starting in the ground floor. "I need to get out of here. Isn't there some backdoor we can use?"

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Screams were all that erupted from Feral's mouth, somewhat muffled by the gasmask, but still audible enough for anyone nearby to fear the mist of gas.
The glowing eye'd, gasmask wearing pony was quickly becoming something from a horror story. You could hear his screams of rage, but you couldn't see him. You could hear the screams of the dying, but you couldn't save them. You could hear the cracking of bones, and only hope you aren't next.
However, like any good story, it was only a matter of time until someone got the courage to face this demon. A Pegasus managed to catch sight of him, because Feral looked into the air directly at her, and his eyes glowed like a beacon in the pegasi's peripheral vision.
This pegasus had enough of seeing ponies hurt because of this crazy pony, even griffon guards weren't this brutal. Sure, they gassed the crowd and made them feel like hell just jumped down their throats, but they took the unexpected, non-lethal route.
This pony, had taken their place. And that's all he was, a pony. No demon and no ghost.
The pegasus placed a knife in her mouth, and took a quick dive. She came at him faster than an arrow to quickly slice through his neck. To her surprise, all he did was lean backwards and she missed!
However, Shade's shuriken that was acting as a necklace, and a beacon, was cut right off its string and was carried into the mist by the fast trail of air the pegasus made.
She came back for another attempt, but once you annoy Feral, you should expect hell if he catches you. As she flew at him, he did the same. He leaned back, but before she could even finish getting past him, he grabbed her back leg. He dug his hooves to avoid being dragged to the floor, this caused her to stop suddenly and land on the ground with a thud.
She knew what just happened, and she had dropped her weapon when she fell. Suddenly, she felt intense pain coming from the leg that was grabbed. When she looked back in tears, she saw her leg was broken and facing a way it shouldn't be. All she did was cry, the gas was starting to affect her, and she knew she was about to die. After a few moments of nothing but tears, she felt herself being kicked onto her back and two hooves grab both sides of her head, then she felt a strong pull.
And like most horror stories, the crying stopped. Every able bodied pony still alive in the smoke had heard it more than once, and just hid. And just like before, they heard a rage-filled scream, and just hoped it wasn't coming towards them. They would have given anything to see a griffon's guards face at this point.

Despite the sheer level of pain he was in, Kroll was able fight through his discomfort and pull out his rifle, loosing off one aimed shot at the face of the coming rioter. With loud crack and a flash of light, a tight cone of coarse glass fragments and chili powder erupted from the muzzle of the captain's weapon, embedding itself in the face of the pegasus, causing it to stagger and crash onto the floor as it screamed in agony. With a wheezing cough, the captain holstered his rifle and walked past the writhing pony, scooping up his breathing mask and putting back it back on before retrieving his crossbow.
The tercel assisted in getting the demasked portion of his squad to relative saftey inside the level below the ceiling they were positioned on before working with the remainder of his squad to fight back the airborne rioter. As the pegasai began to fall back, another volley of mortars began to rain down, dispensing more of the noxious fumes into the congested district. "Alright! So far so good! Don't let up pressure, keep pouring it on!" Kroll shouted at his squad as they redirected their barrage of non-lethal arrows at the rioters on the ground.

Harmless remained silent. He has spent countless nights trying to figure out what he was fighting for. In the end, he figured it was for justice, but he remained unsure.
He began following behind Silver Lining as she searched the house, it was probably a bad idea to leave her alone with no bodyguards. "There's probably another way out, Ma'am." He replied. A house with only one entrance was very unlikely. Harmless figured that Silver probably intended to run from building to building to limit exposure from the sky and the gas.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
The backstreet Shade found herself in had suffered from the riots as well, but the large mob had taken a different way, and so the griffons hadn't targeted their bombing here. That didn't mean that the fumes didn't reach it. Breathing was uncomfortable, and it would quickly get painful. The unicorn made her way hastily.
She turned into the next street and noticed the griffons above just getting rid of some pegasi going for their gas masks. Of course the griffons had the advantage, but maybe Shade could draw advantage from the quarrel. She dismissed four of her shurikens - the ones that where supposed to be somewhere around Silver Lining, but Shade wasn't even certain where Silver was at the moment - and reconjured one of them to send it up towards the fight. Picking a suitable clash of two opponents she was about to send her weapon into the struggle, when she noticed with surprise that the pony had actually gotten hold of the gas mask. Instead of making the griffon crash to the ground, the pony was her target. Without any noteworthy armor on him, it was an easy job for Shade. One aimed cut at the base of his right wing made him lose his flight. He came down a good distance away, near a smoke producing shell.
Taking a painful, but still bearable breath, Shade started galloping, and closed her eyes mid-way. She had seen him coming down, and knew which distance still to go. If nopony was getting into her way she could get near him without opening her eyes to the painful gas.
It wasn't a pony that got in her way, but a shell from a new barrage. She heard a loud crash before her and skidded to a halt. With her velocity, she also lost her estimate how long she had still to go. However, taking a look now would not only be incredibly painful, but also wouldn't allow her to see very far, since the smoke would be especially thick now. Shade walked around the spot she believed the shell had fallen in and continued in the old direction for a while, but eventually she needed to see. And soon, as her lungs began demanding air again.
Half a second was all she allowed herself, and the biting pain that followed only confirmed that more wouldn't do her much good. The picture she received showed her the shell he had originally been heading to, and a shape nearby that could be the pegasus. The distance was quickly crossed, and the shape found by her hoof. It turned out to actually be the pegasus with the gas mask, and Shade quickly pressed the desired object against her face and took a deep breath. Through the goggles she could roughly see the path ahead, and she noticed some ponies being hit by arrows from above. The griffons had dealt with the pegasi, and were focusing on the ground again. But for Shade there was no going back. She had to find Scrapper. She closed her eyes, held her breath again, and magically held the gas mask behind her back, for the filly to use. "You have to see for us now!", she said with as little breath as possible and blindly started to run into the direction she felt Scrapper's shuriken in.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Hijinks had closed her eyes and held her breath when she saw they were headed in a gassy area. She silently sat there, slightly bored and not to mention running out of air again. Suddenly, she felt a something up against her face. Opening her eyes was a big mistake, cause her eyes began to water. She did notice it was one of those griffon gas masks though. She grabbed it and moved her mouth to the breathing area, taking a deep breath in. It was not very effective though, cause the thing was like twice her size and not even made for her species. The intake of air stung, but it was better than suffocating.
Taking her muzzle out of the mask, she replied to Shady. "I 'preciate it, but I think this is a teeny tiny too big for me! Besides. I have my own." She took one more breath, before reaching over and held it in front of Shady's face.
After the mask was secure, she reached into her bag, and pulled out a miniature pair of aviator goggles. They were a souvenir sold at wonderbolts shows for foals, but they stopped making them when war happened. Luckily, Hijinks managed to 'find' a pair! how lucky! Though, she had to wonder why she didn't use these goggles before... oh well!
She adjusted the straps and planted the goggles firmly over her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she wasn't assaulted with pain, so that was good. Still couldn't breathe, but it's a start.
The sights however, wasn't really that interesting. Foggy gas stuff all around, a few sleeping ponies, the usual. Though she could hear a bunch of screaming from somewhere, like somepony released a manticore in the middle of the riots. Now that would be fun.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Many Pegasi who retreated got a glimpse of the seriously wounded ponies being dragged out of the fog, not many knew what was doing it. But suddenly it wasn't about rioting anymore.
On one hoof, they have griffons. On the other, some strange creature badly hurting anybody on the ground.
--Emergency Medical Rooftop--
"They look so... dead. But Alive..." One pegasus said after laying down yet another wounded from the street.
"It's a shame, but on the other hoof. The griffon's seem to have fell for it. They're focusing fire on the ground, and the shells seem to have stopped." Another said, with some kind of rising confidence.
"What!? Do they even matter anymore!? What in Celestia's name is happening down there!?" A female pegasi screamed.
"Well the griffon's aren't going to help any, and they sure as hell don't care how many die down there." The confident pegasus replied. Observing the griffon's.
"What did you have in mind?" The pegasi replied, with a still exhausted and worried tone.
"Actually, we can thank our former leader for this idea. It was a back-up plan to really be used to protect any more of us from harm. But it proved one thing, Griffon's can be fooled. And if they can be fooled... They can be killed." He replied, quickly looking for a pegasus that looked able. But saw none. Not surprising.
"I'll be back, keep getting ponies out of there." He said calmly, before taking off.
--Streets--
On the streets below, mostly screaming from the fog, Shade would no doubt hear this. But what she would notice, is how quiet it was as she approached Scrapper's 'position'.
Most had realised the danger, hiding in buildings, trash cans, under boxes and even hiding under the unconscious ponies who succumbed to the gas and passed out, shortly before they too passed out from exposure. Every time they heard that enraged scream, they cowered in their hiding place. Wishing they could leave, but having nowhere to go and just the few pegasi on rescue operations, al they could do was hope for the best.

A thought of worry crossed Shade's mind when the filly told her she couldn't properly use the mask, but was even more surprised that she apparently "had her own". After the mask sat on Shade's face as well as it could possibly do - being designed for beaks, not muzzles - she threw a short look back and noticed that the filly had merely meant goggles. The matter was quickly dismissed though; It has been the filly's decision to come along despite knowing what it meant, and this wasn't a time when Shade had time to worry about pony's she actually didn't have any noteworthy connection to.
Her real target concerned the unicorn much more. The shuriken had stopped moving. She was getting close, and around her the action seemed to have already died out. Along with a lot of ponies. Having run blindly so far she hadn't noticed the carnage that had happened, and now it all hit her at once. Scrapper, not moving in a battlefield with many victims. When she realized it the filly on her back was entirely forgotten once again.
She rushed forward until she saw her small weapon lying on the ground, the pony supposed to be carrying it not to be seen. She magically picked it up, and quickly noticed that the string still leading through the shuriken's central hole had clearly been cut by a blade. "No", she muttered with rising panic, the sound even more muffled by the mask. She threw frantic looks at ponies lying nearby, but none of them was who she was looking for. Her usually controlled demeanor was gone when she went further away from the location of her find, but with no idea which direction to search in anymore she had little success. What had happened to him?
"Scrapper?" she called out, then pulled the gas mask away from her face for a moment and tried again. "SCRAPPER?!?"

Then find one, Harmless. You're supposed to get me out of here, Silver Lining thought in response to her remaining bodyguard's rather empty comment. She held it back, though. After all, just going to the backside of the building and finding a door or a window wasn't really a difficult job. Except maybe for the fact that the building had no backside with windows and doors, because it stood wall on wall with another one. But at least it was a corner building, offering escape routes to the side. The street they'd land in was partly covered in smoke, but it didn't feature rioters anymore, as far as Silver could see from the window. Well, except for one black cloaked pony with... wait, that's the filly from earlier! And they were running TOWARDS the riot. On second thought, the filly wasn't even the only one seeming familiar. Silver had already assumed that it was Scowler's shady marefriend - Shadowstrike was it? - who had warned them of the incoming trouble earlier, and this might actually be her. But the pair of ponies passed by before Silver could be sure.
With no more time wasted, she laid a hoof on the window handle and took a deep breath.

Harmless stopped Silver before she could open the window. "Perhaps I should lead the way." That was what bodyguards do after all. Harmless didn't actually have any experience being one though. He was taught how to use swords, but not how to be a guard.
Checking that Silver was holding her breath, Harmless took a deep breath of his own before opening the window. He was instantly greeted by the foul cloud that snaked its way into the building. Harmless jumped through the window, and looked around. It was clear, but he will have to keep an eye on the sky. He checked behind him to see if Silver was following before dashing towards where they originally came from: The entrance to the undermarket.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Kroll frowned as he saw the wounded rioters that were being laid out on one of the lower rooftops in the downtown district. He was fairly certain that none of three squads of guards present were using any kind of lethal force, but even still, the captain could tell that the shelling was beginning to get excessive.
"Alright! That's enough!" he shouted to his squad as he pulled out the flare launcher again, loading it before firing it up in the sky. "Cease fire! Cease fire! They've had enough."
The green flare from the launcher streaked up into the sky, signaling the other squads to stop firing volleys of bolts, in addition to notifying the mortar crews to stop shelling the rioters. Looking back down at the struggling rioters below, Kroll sighed. Things had spun out of control too fast, and what was only meant to bring the riots to a halt could have very well made things worse.
"Aella," he says, turning his gaze to the white hen beside him. "Go over to squads two and three and tell them to get over here. We got two wounded from those pegasai and one MIA, but I'm not positive on him being alive down there. Have them get the wounded out of here and leave some of their guys behind so we're not under powered." redirecting his focus to the rest of his squad, the captain continued to issue commands.
"Okay gents, outstanding work holding your own, I know that wasn't easy...sure as hell wasn't for me. Now I'm sad to say we can't go home just yet, we still got work to do. After a reload and weapons check, we gotta wait for things on the streets to cool off a bit before we go down there and do a BDA and look for survivors whether they griffons or Equestirans. I don't want to hear any petty bitching from any of you, got it? They get equal priority gents, we clear?"
The remaining guards begrudgingly nod and acknowledge their superior's commands as they start to perform maintenance on their weapons, most of them feeling that they hadn't gone far enough in their strike back against the rioters.
"Time to go on the defensive, gents. Unless any more of those rioters try to get cocky and come up here to start something, your are not clear to engage by any means, understood? The only exception to that is if any belligerents are posing threats to civilians down there. Aside from that, focus on holding down this position."

--Emergency Medical Rooftops--
"Are we seriously gonna wait for him when something down their is killing us!?" the female pegasi shouted.
"I... I don't know! I think he think's it's the griffon's that are killing us, but everyone we've taken up her says it was some... glowing eye'd freak." the other replied.
Both just looked on, as more and more ponies were lifted onto the rooftops. Some were relatively unharmed, that they were thankful for. Both pegasi had discussed to themselves whether they should risk approaching the griffon's and asking for help. They were obviously not the one's trying to cause harm, the gas effects will wear off and the bolts they fired weren't deadly.
"Let's do it. They can actually go into the gas with their masks, and if they are at all concerned at keeping as many alive as possible, they should listen to us!" the female pegasi said quietly to her friend.
"Well I'm one of the few here who actually know how to care for these wounded, so I can't go. If you think this is the right thing to do, then I think we should give it a try." he replied, turning back to one of the wounded.
She indeed thought it was the best idea they had, an proceeded to take off. She flew in the open so the griffon's could see her coming, and did her best to look passive. "Hey! I have to tell you something! We need your help!"
--Streets--
The shelling finally stopped completely thanks to the flare. The streets were white in the incapacitating substance, mainly the area Shade was in as it was more recently hit. The original gassed zone had began to flatten out into more of a mist, rather than the original cloud that appears when a shell hit's the ground.
The pegasi rescuers were doing their best to hold their breath and resist the gases effect on their eyes as they pulled stranded ponies out of the gas and away from the terrible situation they were in.
Other than this, they were still hiding in whatever place they could to stay alive and away from the gas.

Silver Lining and Harmless got clear of the smoke quickly, and soon the bigger concern was if they might be watched. Careful looks around didn't reveal anything suspicious to Silvern, especially no griffons in the air near them. They were still focused on the riots, or whatever was left of them by now.
The nearest entrance to the underground was, as was the unfortunate rule, a marehole to the sewers. They had a few direct entry points to the actual tunnels of the Undercity, but none of them near, and she didn't actually plan to go to the Undercity. The backup forces were waiting close by.
When the cover was lifted, a shiver of disgust went through the earth pony, though she tried her best to hide it. She doubted she'd ever get used to that; it still needed a lot of willpower to make herself go down there without complaint. That smell was simply obnoxious. Again she took a breath and held it before proceeding. Arriving in the sewer tunnel, she found with relief that there was a dry - though not exactly clean - walkway in the direction they had to go. However, when the cover was closed again, there wasn't a thing to see. "I hope Scowler didn't carry all of our torches", she pressed out, trying not to take in the vile air around her.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Scanion had one more thing to do before he left. Find his pet.
Chances were simply that if she wasn't in the streets, she would have fled into a building. Donning the gasmask he was advised to take, Scanion looked out of windows to get some kind of idea what building his pet would have chosen. He eventually noticed a buildings window was broken, and blood was on the sharp edges of glass. The same street was the most recent one to be shelled, so it could come to comparison that his pet had hid in that building after fleeing the original bombing.
Continuing on that information, Scanion smashed the window he was in front of and flew out. Landing quickly near the smashed window with blood on it and squeezing himself through, he landed in a hallway filled with gas and the unconscious ponies who were, not even getting a scratch from the window. Because clearly, he was in less of a rush than whoever broke it in the first place.
There was a pony lying out cold in-front of a door so he decided to start there. Low and behold, there was the pegasus he was looking for. Completely out of it and still inhaling the gas, Scanion lifted her onto his back and proceeded to exit the building.
Once outside, he took his pet off of his back and began to carry her in his arms instead, in a kind of cradle position, so that he could use his wings to fly out of the gas and to a safer location. He flew out of the gassed district and into a currently abandoned apartment, he sat his pet down on the floor and went to fill up a small bucket full of water. He then took the full bucket back through to her, and tipped all the water over her head, it was then that he saw the blunt bolt still stuck in her, so he proceeded to simply pull it out rather than wait for his pet to fully awaken.
"Can you move?" He said coldly.

While outside there was a war going on, Void was in another, untrue world, captured with pictures inside her head. With pictures - and something else.
Voices, laughters, happy screams, smiles, jokes, winking eyes, adventures, the sweet clumsy behaviour of a pony. And something else. All those things didn't make sense. She saw the face of a black filly, a unicorn. And her eyes were eye-catching. Red. A glowing red. And a laughing red that bare a pony was able to see. But she saw it, she - whatever her name was. She knew her as well as she knew the red-eyesd black unicorn filly. She heard her name and was filled with -
A scream. The next thing she heard was the shouting for somepony and the scene changed into cold, into sharp freezing. A cell. A griffon. Beatings. And another pony who's name it was.
She was scared. As scared as she hadn't been for a very long time. And she felt pain. Deep pain, dark pain. Sharp pain. She felt that she was losing her mind. Her body jerked and twitched. She screamed a name...
The cold brought her back, her body jumped into a sitting position, she breathed like there wasn't any air. Her lungs burnt and she froze. The name echoed in her mind.
Then her eyes met those well-known griffon eyes which she just had seen. There was something. And they brought her back. Her mind shut down, the pain nestled onto her body like a missed friend until she felt well again. Void was back.
She got onto her four hooves and expected order from her master, not having heard his words, not recognizing that her body was trembling and strained.

Scanion watched his pet stand up, she was shaky but she'll be fine. "C'mon, we're leaving now. I may or may not have another target you need to watch out for."
With that, he left the room, expecting Void to follow.

Hijinks managed to hold her breath for much longer than she thought she could. Maybe those times where she tested how long she could hold her breath underwater was starting to pay off? Anyway, the shelling has stopped but it would take a while for the gas to be gone completely.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Shady began screaming the name of that pony really loudly. She must have missed something again.
"You silly filly" The voice of Hijinks sang out in her head.
"Nuh uh!" She mentally slapped the other Hijinks. "Youse the silly filly!" It was at this point that she realised she was technically calling herself a silly filly. Good thing this whole scenario was in her head! At least she hoped it was, cause it wasn't, then she- Oh look! Something shiny!
Hijinks was ripped out of her wonderful little world by something shiny on one of the bodies of the sleeping rioters. She jumped off the back of the shady pony and dashed towards it. In one of the packs that the rioter was carrying, was a shiny golden miniature figurine of a pony princess. According to Hijinks' vast stores of information in her head, she determined this figure was Celestia. Excellent, she will torture it at a latter date. She pocketed the treasure and continue to rummage through the sleeping pony's stuff for more stuff which she could take and keep with her other stuff.
She temporarily forgot about Shady and other stuffs. she was focused on this stuff. Whatever.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
"SCRAPPER!?" Feral heard coming from far behind him. Like a blind animal, he began to move towards the sound of the caller. Slowly going from a slow walk, to a full on sprint. Yes, he heard the cries of others, but this one drew his attention more than normal. He felt naturally attracted to the sound of the voice that called the name, and another part of him trying to make him turn away.
As he began to speed up, his breaths through the gasmask became more audible. He found it hard to see in the fog, only the colour red was visible... Just that colour. It practically glowed to him, and he could see it all around him. He could see a few plants on a stall that sold them, he could see red chalk on the ground from where a foal may have been drawing before the riot, he could see the blood on the unconscious rioters, he could also see the red fabric that was used to protect the goods of a stall from rain and other things, and it was in his way.
Like a raging bull, he sped up even more. Pushing himself harder than before, going faster and faster, until he was just a second away from running into the wooden stall, and at that moment, he shifted his body left so that the right side would take the impact. His speed and bodyweight served as a literal wrecking ball, with a very angry yell he went straight through the stall with little effort and still continued to where the source of the calls came.
If anything, the caller had given the pegasi rescuers more time to save the one's who were still helpless. At the cost of their own safety.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
There was no reaction to Shade's call at first. None that was deemed important enough to enter her conscious mind. No reaction from the pony she needed a reaction from. She may have been impationt, but there was no room for patience when her lover possibly lay here, bleeding to death. Or having died already?
The thought sent a new wave of panic through the mare as she rushed from body to body, checking who it was. There might have been living ponies needing help among them, she didn't notice. All she noticed was that they weren't Scrapper. It wasn't until one of them grabbed her hoof when she was about to leave him that her attention shifted. She was about to finish what whoever had created this slaughter had begun out of irrational anger about being distracted, but a shape moving towards them caught her eye before her hoof came down on the unfortunate pony's neck.
"Scraps!" she called through the gasmask again, her worry washed away by relief. Momentarily, until she registered that he was storming at her like a madpony. She noticed the glow of his eyes, and managed to evade him in the last second before he would have crashed into her. "SCRAPPER!", she tried another time, but the sound was still muffled from the mask.

The wounded were piling up, the griffons were certainly not the biggest problem on their minds. As they had already deduced, something with glowing red eyes was killed them. Was it an animal? It could scream loud enough to be considered one, it killed enough to be considered one. The back-up leader known as Gears had a decision to make.
Use his resources to put an end to the threat in the gas, or use them and take payback on the griffons who gave the beast a chance to commit such acts?
Considering the way his followers were acting, no doubt they are going to go to the Griffons for help, which would likely cause more problems. But without a way to combat the gas they have no way of fighting the thing down there.
Gears wanted revenge more than most, but he wasn't as blind as the former pony in charge. When he arrived at the location the hidden pegasi were, he made an announcement they weren't expecting thanks to being hidden all this time.
"Change of plan Ladies and Gentlecolts! Things have gone haywire, and something is killing us that isn't Griffon! Team 1, 2 and 3, your new job is to assist in getting ponies out of the gas the griffons put down! Team 4 and 5, your job is to clear that gas faster than it's currantly going! Ponies are dying out there, so hurry up! And for Celestia's sake all of you, stay the hell away from a creature with glowing red eye's!"
All pegasi teams, which consisted of around 30 pegasi each, nodded and flew out to begin their tasks. As 3 teams helped lift ponies who were alive out of the fog, 2 teams began to clear the gas as best they could. And their efforts were definitely helping, as the gas was being spread out very quickly.

Re: [RIOT EVENT, OPEN] The Downtown Barbecue
Feral immediately turned around to face the small mare with the gasmask, paying absolutely no mind to the nearby filly, like she wasn't even there at all.
He rushed towards the gasmasked mare, though seemingly slower than Scrapper's usual, it was clear he was spending more power on the force of his hits. Once he was close enough, he raised his hoof and swung. Though he swung way to high to even hit the mare, in fact, he did a kind of uppercut that simply went over her. He tried to grind to a halt, trying to come back for a second attempt. But under some kind of confusion, he didn't notice any of the ponies on the ground around him and tripper over.
As he stood up, he held his hooves to his head, as if in pain or a kind of self control.
"AAAGH! LEAVE HER ALONE! DON'T BLOODY TOUCH HER!" He yelled to what seemed like himself.
Feral quickly regained himself, and turned to face the gasmasked mare again. His attention was brought elsewhere, as he saw the gas fog being pushed away by many pegasi he couldn't reach.
