Personality:

Trails at first glance may seem a blowhard terrorist, and while that's definitely true, that's not all he is. The aging stallion also often displays complete and utter emotional disconnect from the ponies he claims to be working to liberate, seeing collateral damage as a necessary evil for many of his operations. He makes little to no effort in hiding who he is or what he does, openly challenging members of the occupational forces.

Despite his callousness and brutality he isn't a buck without virtue. Quite to the contrary when not in the middle of one of his 'missions' he will often show himself to be a passionate, and sometimes even tender, pony. He seems to have a particular soft spot for foals. Why this is, is anypony's guess.

History:
Trails was born a humble pony working the land of his family's timber claim, with no ambitions greater than to live quietly with his best mare Sugar Cube and watch the seasons pass. War has a way of changing things though. First he lost his mill and everything with it to the war effort, working round the clock to pump out lumber. Then came the inevitable drafts, where he was forced to compromise everything he ever thought sacred for the sake of survival.

By the wars end he was a stallion without a home or anything to call his own other than the uniform on his back. Equestria may have been a dead nation, but he remained its soldier. Day in day out, he has continued to fight the occupation with everything he's got.
