String heads back toward the town gates, he was at a lake that was close, knowing it will be a much better and cleaner water than In the City.

He wears his usual cloak, his hood not over his head, he looks around whistling a tune, guitar dangling by his side limply, he looks unaware of his surroundings, lost in his thoughts, an excellent pray for a griffon.

A roar sounded overhead, like a jet engine from a hundred feet. Dotting the sky in dozens where the many-fold retinue of a commanding griffin officer. From this rabble, three separated from the flock, and began circling above in slow, steady figure eights.

One of the griffins began a gradual descent.

String looks up, his blood suddenly freezing, he puts his hood on >Shit< he starts galloping towards the nearest bush, some 100 meters away from the road, he runs for his dear young life, his hooves beating upon the earth, cold, now that day passed.

The griffon touched down, noiseless, ears perked up and falcon gaze scanning the surroundings.

The griffon was a soldier, dressed in what could only be regarded as full battle armor. He levied a heavy pike, taking the polearm and shoving its shaft into the soft ground.

"-AAAAAA-aah!" he screeched, signaling the other two above to make their descent. Its red eyes pierced the twilight, searching, hunting....

String, stops, halfway to the bush turning around toward the noise, he looks at the griffin >Maybe he won't pick on me... I am a pony of music afterall.... But then again, a pony< he watches the griffons, cautiously , ready to run, hid, even strike back.

The other two crash down with a audible thump. Scanning the horizon but unable to make out much due to the twilight, the first griffin makes a gesture to the second, who nods.

"WE KNOW YOUR OUT THERE!" the first calls, in no particular direction. "WE HAVE YOUR ACCOMPLICE. SURRENDER YOURSELF INTO CUSTODY AND YOUR FAMILY WILL NOT BE EXECUTED WITH YOU."

The three's eyes pierced the veil of shimmering sunlight, unable to make out naught but blurred shapes. Their ears twitched in vain, trying to piece together the location of the perpetrator amongst the cacophony of frogs and crickets.

String looks around for the possible suspect, he takes flight, trying to reach further with his eyeseight, now some 5 meters off the ground hovering. >So, somepony sabotaged a griffin supply wagon.... this needs to be in a song.<

The third griffin possessed what appeared to be a bundle on its back. The distinct sound of wings beating meant that someone was out there, and it was now his turn to act. He pulled the bundle from his back, which turned out to be a small unicorn, hardly of age to be out of school, much less... flying on the back of a griffin...

The clink of chains trailed alongside the Unicorn, as her taskmaster took rein, dangling her several feet above the ground. "Do as your told, and you go free next time. Sniff 'em out."

The unicorn nodded, and her horn lit up, as she began leading the griffin on the chain forward into the dusk.

(He looked up the damn sky, but fine, if you want it edited...)

String notices the small unicorn being held in chains by the griffon which seems to be more important. "hey, that's not nice!" he starts flying toward the griffons, realizing that they might killing for this now, he puts a hoof over his mouth "Crap" he starts hovering backwards slowly, away from them.

The unicorn dangled, directing the three forward with the magic from her horn. The spell lingered in midair, jutting forwards into the dark and seeking out the Pegasus.

The griffin holding the Pegasus tossed her atop his back, still following the trail of magelight. The other two griffins leaped up surging forward into the night air in the general direction the magelight had pointed. "THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SURRENDER!"

String, groans "C'MON, I AM INNOCENT" and decides to run, his heart racing along with his wings, he's covered in a dark cloak, making it easy for him to blend in with the darkness, he starts changing directions trying to lose the griffons.

After several minutes of unsuccessful hunting, the two lone griffins roared off to regroup with the main retinue. The griffin carrying the foal, on the other hand struggled to carry the foal, and as he tried to take off she leapt from his back, yanking the chain from his claw.

He scrambled after the foal, who on foot was more swift than the griffin, and he swiped at the chain twice in an attempt to grasp it. The foal could feel the magical energies latent in the Pegasus she was pursuing and fled from her captors towards him.

String, seeing the fleeing foal, gathered the needed guts to suddenly rush to the other side, toward the foal, determined to save it, he make a long U turn, trying to snatch the foal before they catch both her and him

The griffon followed behind the foal, finding humor in his attempt to grab the chain. His comrades overhead where becoming impatient, and circled in slow arcs to try and see what was happening. The chain slipped from his hand yet again, and in a moment of frustration bellowed loudly. This sent the foal scrambling, right into the (arms? mouth? side) of the Pegasus...

As soon as he catches the foal in his forelegs he laughs out in victory, forgetting the gryphons are still there.

The Griffon lunged forward, grabbing string by the neck. The foal screamed, and and leapt off into the darkness.

As the circulation in his neck faltered, all started going black.

The griffon pulled a chain from his satchel and fastened it to his new prisoner. "You're going to have a long night"
