The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
The room was damp, and dark, and incredible cold. Rectangular in shape, with a singular table.
But the room was not empty. Two forms had been secured to the wall. One, a Pegasus Pony. The other, the monster Griffon. Precautions had been taken with this one. He had been secured manifold times. Many looping chains and wires wrapped about his entirety.
The door to the room entered, and five figures entered the room.
(((Background: This room is underneath the Headquarters. I am among the group. Freyia, you can either choose to be amongs the figures entering the room, or enter at a later date. You were brought here at the insistence of a soldier. Winter, you are also amongst the group entering the room. You do not know why you were brought here. You were retrieved earlier by a soldier who requested the aid of a doctor. Now, Introductory posts everyone.
Addendum: Zwei was brought down here and restrained immedietely after the fight upstairs. You may still be loopy. String, you were unconscious but you are now awake.)))

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
Winter Bell entered inside the dark room, a pit of worry ebbing at the inside of her stomach as she sighted the secured frames of a Pony and a Gryphon. She paused momentarily at the sight, wondering if she would be next on that wall. Suddenly fear sparked inside of her and she instinctively looked towards the entrance they arrived through in a futile thought to gallop for it. But such a thing would be the end of her, and between here and safety was a large amount of Gryphons, all of whom would be more then happy for their next meal.
She looked back, and hesitantly moved further inside, standing silently and quietly until she was spoken too, or she was told to do something. After all there must be a reason why she was brought here. And if it wasn't to join them, then she could only be here for once reason. And the thought of that, made her feel a little sick.

Freyia steps into the room and immediately to the side, making sure to put space between her and the others. She leans against the the back wall on the same side of the room the griffon is strapped to. She had been requested to come in case of the griffon loosing it again. She does not care for torture, in fact she despises it. But keeping her mouth shut, she watches the events as they play out, ready with her spear to defend the officer.

Zweihander's head pounded. Opening his eyes, all he could see was a table. Attempting to scratch his head in confusion, his claw was arrested by the manacle attached to the wall. Shaking his head, he noticed that all of his senses were slow. He could not think coherently, but the chains were slowly bringing him back to reality. Deciding to feign unconsciousness, just in case, he went limp. It was hard, with all of the restraints, but he could do it.
Zweihander heard the door open, and did nothing.

String flutters his eyes open, looking around, his ears perk up.
He suddenly realizes that he's in an interrogation room, his eyes widening, he sees five figures entering, deciding to remain completely silent.
He starts shaking, hoping that death isn't going to get him now, that eh finally found a purpose in life.

Tisis walked around the tables once, before settling on his haunches on the side opposite to his prisoners. "Ms... Winter... Winter Bell? Am I right? Yes, I suppose you are wondering why you are here Ms. Bell. You are not in trouble, I can see the worry in your eyes. We are terribly understaffed Ms. Bell, and while I would typically never bring a civilian into this little party of ours, it would seem that we have no doctors in our little entourage at the moment. So you see, your expertise will be needed today. It will be needed alot."
Tisis made a gesture with his hand, and one of the attendants came forth, unrolling a cloth bundle onto the table. Dozens of pliers, knives, syringes and assorted goodies were tucked into its pockets. Tisis withdrew a notepad, and pencil from the satchel at his side, and placed them exactingly at perfect right angles with the table.
"We are going to do this one at a time. Ms. Bell, would you mind sedating the brute there?"

String sees the torture equipment, he yelps slightly, covering his muzzle, he clenches his eyes, hoping this is all just a dream, he'll wake up any minute now, cold, on the earth, it's all just... a... dream...
He loses all conciousness, thought of being cut up and incapacitated for his life left him hanging off the stool, away from his body.

Winter listened, her right ear flickering slightly at his words. He said she wasn't in any trouble, yet she didn't feel any more safe. She silently nodded to his words before eying the contents on the table, all of which were various medical equipment she was familiar with. She took a steadying breath as she took a few steps forward. Winter was a gentle pony who liked to help people and even gryphons, but this, this was looking allot like torture, and if it was, then how could she be helping anyone by being here. It left a bad taste in her mouth, but one that she dare not express openly.
As he ordered she looked to the larger Gryphon, a saddened apologetic expression on her face as her horn ignited with a purple glow. The spell charged and shot a purple beam at the Gryphon, striking him center mass. The magic made him light up in a purple color for a moment before the spell took effect, numbing him and sedating him entirely. She turned to the Gryphon, her amethyst eyes locking with his as she nodded, confirming the spell was complete.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
Opening his eyes to the approaching pony, Zweihander made eye contact. The unicorn blasted him with some kind of spell, rendering Zweihander limp, and senseless. Yet, he was still aware of his surroundings. The Pegasus, Griffon, and 2 guards all focused on him. His body sagging, before he went under, Zweihander mouthed the word, "Why", before losing control of his nerves.
It was then Vengeance took control of Zweihander's muscles. Straining slightly, Vengeance felt the concrete attached to the chains crack ever-so-slightly. Vengeance shuddered perceptibly. He would keep Sanity coherent enough to discover what was to happen. The Sword was gone. He had complete control.

Freyia perked up at the crack of concrete. She heard it clearly. Eyeing the griffon, she could tell that something was similar, like in the room before.
She looked to the others to see if they sensed it, but said nothing. She gripped her spear a little more tightly.
This isn't good, but they must know what they are doing.

Tisis eyed the great brute wearily. He was getting too old for this. Too old for all the sillyness that Equestria seemed to possess. "Ms. Bell, sedate him more, for your sake and mine. I'd rather not die today, and it'd be in your best interest if you feel the same."
Tisis turned to the other, to find that he had blacked completely out. "Did- did you sedate that one too?" He asked, gesturing towards the Pegasus. An attendant whispered into his ear and he nodded. "Ah, he blacked out. Miss... Freyia? That is an unusual name you have. While Miss Bell is busy, do you mind injecting that Pegasus with this syringe?"
The liquid in the syringe was a unique liquid, one that you would never find in a conventional medical office. A tool to the torturers trade, it provided one with the means of easily resuscitating unconscious victims. A very useful tool when you would rather act whilst the wounds were fresh and the victim had passed out.

Winter sighed before shaking her head, "I-I don't think that's necessary" she began, taking a moment to steady herself before continuing, "The dose I gave him was already quite strong, anything more and he might not be responsive at all for a long time" she said as she locked from the bound gryphon to the one who seems dot be running this operation. There was something about this Gryphon that put her on edge. Maybe it was the way he seemed so calm and polite, or the way he sat there, but it was far more worrying to her then a Gryphon who would shout or talk with vulgar disregard for respect and civility.

Freyia grimaces slightly. She despises torture, but it is her duty to follow the orders of those appointed over her. She picks herself up off the wall and walks to the officer. Before taking the syringe she gives him a disappointed look.
"Yes sir."
She pays no mind to the unicorn, walking right past her to the pegasus and injecting him with the serum quickly. She then places the empty syringe on the table and takes her place back on the wall.

Zweihander, becoming a bystander in his own body, was shocked. He could feel his thoughts, his sense of self, ebbing away like a tide the more Vengeance took control. Soon, without the cold steel of his sword to keep his insanity in check, Vengeance would take complete control. It was not an "if" but a when. Eventually, he would die, and Vengeance would be all that remained.
Zweihander did not plan to go down that easily. Trying to find a chink in Vengeance's mental barrier, Zweihander could find none. Trying again, and again, and again to no avail. After what seemed like years, Zweihander heard a voice. He couldn't make out the words, but the meaning was clear. She was standing up for him. Using that bit of hope as an anchor for his mind, he could feel his strength returning. He hoped, against all odds, that Vengeance had not struck.
Vengeance, on the other claw, was tensing his muscles. Having gauged the concretes weakness, he believed that with a little effort he would be free. Paying no attention to his sanity regaining strength, he clicked his beak, staring at the Prudentate with hungry eyes. He would die first, in an orgy of violence and viscera. It would be glorious.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
The Valkyrie had listened to his command, and injected the contents of the syringe into his patient. But had he sensed... resentment? And the doctor had spoken up, refusing his polite request. These ponies would have to learn. The new world order demanded that they show a little more respect for their superiors, and if it cost them their integrity, then so be it. Progress in all things, Prudence in all things. That was what was being offered.
"Ms. Bell, I think you need to be made aware of something. The griffin who you just sedated is extremely psychotic. Any means or measurements you have for the amount of sedative that would be enough, are undeniably short for this utility. That griffin, who you have just 'sedated' has just strained against his restraints with sufficient force to crack the bunker wall behind him. Please, sedate him again. Don't make this awkward."
Tisis eyed the shieldmaiden unsure of how to continue. He hadn't anticipated civilian doctors to be so... civil. How they ever got anything done was a mystery to him. But the shieldmaiden? He could smell her resentment of him. She would need to be broken before she would be useful.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
Winter paused as she simply took in the information. She knew Gryphon and Pony anatomy like the back of her hoof, yet here she was being told that it simply wasn't enough. There was also an undertone in the words of the Gryphon, a threat possibly. She looked back at the bound Gryphon and once again charged her magic, her horn lighting up in purple manna before striking him a second time with a much lower does to reinforce the first. When the spell was over the room once again darkened without the glow of purple illuminating it.
She then exhaled and looked to the Gryphon who asked this of her, "It's done, but I shan't do it again otherwise I'll be treating him out of a coma" she said matter-of-factly as she took a few steps back.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
Zweihander understood what the black griffon was doing. In fact, he hoped for it. By taking control of his body, Vengeance had made sure that THIS time, the insanity would be taking the hit. Not Zweihander.
As the purple beam contacted Vengeance, he railed against his chains one last time. Managing to pull one manacle off of the wall, getting a hand free. With this moment of crucial distraction on Vengeance's part, Zweihander prepared one final push with his consolidated strength. Hitting Vengeance's barrier, he located a weak spot. Hitting it as hard as he could, he broke Vengeance. Suddenly regaining control, Zweihander let out a silent scream. It seemed Vengeance had left a final gift. All if his nerve endings were on fire, his muscles spasming. Suddenly, he felt his heart stop.

As soon as the manacle unlatched from the wall, Freyia was between the officer and the griffon, her spear pointed right at the griffons throat. She was ready for the attack, she was hoping for it.

Winter's eyes widened as she noticed the slack look on the bound Gryphon, the tale tell signs of his heart failing. She then saw the Pegasus mare pointing a spear at him and furrowed her brow as she stepped forward, "Stand back!" she said sharply as she pointed her horn to his chest, giving him a medium strength shock, a bolt of electric followed by a flash as it connected with his chest. She listened, counting the seconds pass before giving him another one in the same place. Once again she counted, and sighed when she heard the faint beat as his heart kick started.
It was then that the pale blue mare looked to the Gryphon by the table, "That's what happens when you don't listen to the doctor" she said with a tinge of annoyance before she continued, "Next time heed my warning and-" she said but then caught herself as she went quiet once more. She very nearly over stepped the mark, but it didn't stop her from being annoyed that he didn't listen. Her heart beat fast inside her chest as it caught up with her what she had just done.

Freyia lifts her spear and watches confusingly as the unicorn zaps the griffon.
Um...I must be missing something. Isn't he is breaking free?
She remains between the Griffon and the officer, still expecting a fight.

Tisis sat beholden to all that was occuring, and when the doctor began to scold him, he couldn't contain himself. First a chuck- then a snort, and then he doubled over with laughter. His retinue shifted oddly, as if expecting something nasty, and one retainer slid out the doorway when noone was looking.
"Aaahahaha, wow, its not everyday that we get so much drama in the interogation room. This, this, spear lady, she's just too much, and the doctor is all 'Oh listen to me, I'm a medical professional,' and all I can do is watch."
But Tisis's face went straight an instant later. "All I can do is watch as a civilian and race traitor make a mockery of my interrogation," he snapped coldly. Tisis stood up and grabbed a scalpel. "Is the brute living Ms. Bell?"

Winter jolted slightly as he laughed, having not expected it. She watched with confusion as he continued, his guards seeming to take a step back as they seemed worried. Winter herself took a step back after seeing their reaction. When he snapped at them her ears shifted back for a moment before returning to their natural place. "Yes, he's stable" she said softly as he took the scalpel and stood up. She tensed, her heart beating faster as she dared to think what he was about to do to these poor people. She wanted to leave, right then, but she knew that leaving would only serve to ensure their death, and her own.

Freyia's ears went flat at the word traitor. She truned, everything in her wanting to strike him. But she was no traitor. She bowed slightly and stepped to the side, letting the officer see the griffon on the wall.
Taking more steps she walks back to her spot in the back, but does not lean on it.
She stands at attention, a slight eye twitch her only movement.

Tisis approached the restrained griffin, sizing up the areas the restraints had not covered. He had opportunities, but not many, since a sizable portion of the brute was covered in chain. "Ms. Freyia, can you hand me the reddish-grey syringe on the left side, please? I think I may need to remove an eye..."
He gestured to the staff, and they left the room, returning with a medical cart full of jars and dishes. "Torture is a very psychological game Ms. Bell. The first rule is that your victim must know that you aren't bluffing. If they think your only going to do little things, like hurt them bodily, then they may resist. But the threat of permanent crippling? That tends to make a figure ve-eeerry compliant. I only hope we have enough ways to hurt this guy to get all the information I need!"
"Syringe, please- Ms. Freyia."

Winter felt her stomach pit at what he was about to do to the poor creature. She jumped forward, placing herself between the gryphon and his victim, "Please, don't. There has to be another way for this that doesn't involve mutilating and torture" she said as she placed a hoof on the chest of the Gryphon to halt his advance, "He's not even awake yet" she said in a pleading tone.

"Ms. Bell, the intention right now isn't torture. If I remove one eye, he will believe me when I threaten to take the next. Now is merely the most convenient time for that, since he isn't awake, and I can remove it with the least tissue damage. If he is a good little griffon he may get his eye back. Like a foal having their sleep-over privileges revoked, and if the foal behaves, maybe they get to keep their depth perception."
"I understand that your concerned, being that you're a doctor and a compassionate individual, and I feel for you, but the individual behind you is an assassin, who's no doubt done terrible things to well meaning creatures." (((IRONY!!! What with Tisis doing Terrible things to well meaning creatures.)))

(((IRONY!!! What with Tisis doing Terrible things to well meaning creatures.)))

String finally opens his eyes and rubs them, he looks around again and releases an annoyed groan, his expression saddens and he looks down, his ears flat, ready to take the worse, depressed he won't die with honor.

Tisis snapped his attention to the groaning Pegasus, placing the scalpel and syringe on the medical tray. Forgetting his speech on the merits of eye gouging, he grabbed the pad and pencil from the desk and prepared himself for a proper interrogation. "Freyia, can you see to it that Ms. Bell doesn't try to assassinate me while I'm preoccupied here? I think I may have upset her."

String raises his head up toward the gryphon, his frown, a dark look in his eyes, shooting through the gryphon's, his ears perk up, he waits for the Gryphon to speak to him, for he won't lose his honor by speaking first.

"Yes sir."
She looks at the ground and sighs. Lifting her spear horizontally, she presses the rod against the unicorn and forces her back into the wall, essentially pinning her. She makes eye contact with the her and shakes her head, a sign to not try anything stupid.

Winter looks to the mare whose pinning her against the wall. Staring into her eyes with her deep amethyst irises. She brings her voice low, between them as an expression of sadness forms across her soft features, "How can you do this?" she says softly.

Freyia lets out a small laugh. If I had a bit for every time a pony asked me that. She looks at the unicorn with a soft smile and whispers to her, "You are not my kin. I have never known this land, nor its inhabitants, beyond fairy tales. I have no loyalty to you."
With that she turns to ensure the griffon is still passed out. The unicorn is not her concern, and she does not wish to harm her. The griffon on the other hand, that is a different story.

Winter narrowed her eyes at the Pony. She shook her head before she replied, "So being a pony means nothing to you..." she said, keeping her voice low, "How does it feel" she began, "To know that the ones you call your superiors look down on you as nothing more then dirt, to be used at their leisure" she said, still looking at the pony, "How does it feel to betray your own kind" she said, her voice still low. She felt hurt by her comment, and felt justified to give it back. She was a pony by blood, regardless of land, surely that counted for something.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
She thought for a moment, looking to the ground. Her ears flattened a little. She has gone through so much to prove her strength, her beauty, and yet even now, this officer treats her like pony trash. There is some truth in her words, but Freyia looked up towards the unicorn.
"What does it mean to be a pony? Just because I am a pegasus, does that mean that I am like the rest of you. I have given enough of your warriors honorable deaths to know that I am not the same."
She looked back to the griffon hanging on the wall, "I have a question for you, how does it feel to be afraid." She meant this as a stab back for the betrayal comment. Why am I always labeled as a betrayer? I have never pledged loyalty to any other kingdom but the griffons, and I have served them loyally throughout this campaign. It is starting to get old.
"I am no traitor. You never had my allegiance." This was spoken in a dark, angry tone, with her eyes fixed on the griffon.

Winter sighed, "To be pony, is to be free" she said softly, "Couldn't you imagine it? blue skies filled with ponies and Gryphons alike, together in unison going about their day without any fear of oppression or any declaration of power over the world because one is stronger" she said before taking a pause once more, "Look around you, if you have even a shred of integrity and harmony left inside you, you can see this isn't right" she said in a sad tone.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
Zweihander had been awake since that unicorn had resuscitated him. Afraid to make any sudden moves, for fear of drawing any danger to himself, and the ponies in the room, he had remained still. Yet, even when the black griffon threatened to cut his eye out, torture him, he stood still.
But now was different. Heating the two mates argue, Zwei could see sense in both arguments. He was a broken war veteran, old before his time. His sanity was slowly ebbing away, and he held no illusions on what would take it's place. A creature that would rather kill itself than release control. He was incapable of ever having children due to Vengeance, he almost died when he fought back today. Yet...
He admires the mares for each of their qualities. The soldier, who was born in the kingdoms, loyal to a species she was not a part of. He would have loved to spar in a friendly match with her. The unicorn, who had shown compassion to a griffon identified as an assassin, and stood up to a high ranking griffon. She dreamed of a future of coexistence. Zweihander doubted that, however sad that may be. The rebels, if they won, would likely commit genocide against the griffons, wiping out the threat once and for all. The griffons general view of ponies was as slave labor, and a food source. It would never happen. A tear rolled down his face, for they both reminded him of... no. He would be strong, for Klara. While the black griffons head was turned, he raised his head, and attempted to get the two mares attention.

Freyia thought on her life before pledging to the griffons. She would fend for herself in the harsh environments, but she was free. She would soar through the air, sleep in the trees, walk over glaciers. She did whatever she wanted. She strained to think of an adjective for this time of her life.
"Boring"
She then remembers her first fight, and all the fights after that. The exhilaration, the magnificence, the beauty. This is what she wanted more of.
"This harmony you speak of, others have told me about it. They have tried in vein to describe it to me. All I know is you see it in peace." She pauses trying to find the right words, "I see it in battle."
"You talk of freedom. Only death brings true freedom," she gives another look to the unicorn and smiles, " for in death, there will be peace and coexistence. For those who have fought and died honorably, they are at peace, together. I await my time to join them." Written all over her face was hope and excitement.

Winter shook her head, "Then you are truly lost" she said before her horn took on a purple glow. With one explosion of force her magic lashed out, pushing the spear and Freyia back from her. Winter straightened herself up, not following through with anything else, but to simply give herself space. She wasn't a soldier or a prisoner, she would not be treated as such. She looked to the bound Gryphon as he tried to get their attention, looking from the mare with the spear to the Gryphon.

Freyia's face showed a dull look as she lifted her spear, almost as if complying with the unicorns magical force. She could still react to anything she tried, but didn't care, instead only letting out a disappointed sigh.
Right, I am the one who is lost. So many judgmental creatures. I feel sorry for both of their doomed lands. They just don't understand.

NO! Could the mares not see both were right! Zwei stared desperately at the warrior. She had the expression of one who had lost faith. This was a far cry from the proud warrior that had pointed a spear at Vengeance, who could snap her like a twig, and would have attempted to, if Zweihander did not intervene. The unicorn, who had shown kindness and the ability to see past others differences, judges the Pegasus mare on the belief of Valhalla? That did dot make sense to the griffon in the slightest.
If Zweihander could have, he would have yelled at the mares to stop their fighting, and fight the true menace here. The black griffon. Instead, he gave both of them a desperate glare, tears streaming down his cheeks and beak. It broke his heart to see two bright points of light in this city of extinguished candles flicker.

Re: The First Interrogation of the Undergrowth [NOT CANNON][Closed]
So much DRAMA Tisis thought, viewing the spectacle with a combination of disgust and creeping frustration. Why couldn't creatures just be professional and courteous, not with all these ideals and philosophies creeping into everything. If Tisis had his way, he would have had Equestria systematically removed of all life. But noo-ooo, his superiors demanded that this was an 'Occupation' not a 'Genocide'. Bah- like there was a difference in the long run. A genocide resulted in loss of life, but an occupation? The ponies would still be the same on the outside, but by the end their culture, their lives, their identities would be dead.
"Are we done ladies?" Tisis growled to the two bickering ponies. Turning his head back to the chained Pegasus, began to speak. "Mr. String. We know your name, we know you live in the city somewhere. But what we don't know is how you managed to sneak your assassin friends into our entourage. Two traitor griffins? A bomb? You don't organize that quickly without inside information. Now before we begin, do you have anything you want to tell us?"

String smirks, his look grim, he chuckles slightly "I do have something to say to you. Even if I were such a smart one, and if I were to do that, you wouldn't see me walking underneath the, whatever happened, so unprofessionally. I am a bard, I don't do no fighting."

"So, that's it? A bard? You honestly expect me to believe that, after three of my patrols established that you ambushed them as they sighted you fleeing the site of the attack?"
Tisis walked back to the table, picking up a syringe, and gesturing to the attendants to bring the medical cart forward. "Do you know what we do to ponies who don't talk, Mr. String? We find their next of kin, their friends, associates, we take them, and they disappear forever. I'm going to give you one last chance to explain yourself, before I start becoming unpleasant."

He laughs out, unable to stop laughing "I-I have no kin, you idiot!" through laughter. "And how could I be on two places at once, what do you think I am, a unicorn?" He sighs "I am a bard, I tell tales of heroes, I don't do anything heroic. Do what you will to me, my only regret is that I'll never see that one mare again" he then looks down, still smirking. "Wrote a fucking poem for her, and didn't even show her..."

Tisis jabbed the needle into Chords thighs, pressing the plunger to push the liquid into his bloodstream. "That may be true, but I am disinclined to believe you Mr. String. Evidence incriminates you in interesting ways."
The Prudentate grabbed a caliper and studied it in front of his patient. "You see, one of the griffin assassins mentioned you by name, Mr. String. Told us you were neck deep in it from the beginning. Why would he say that if he didn't know you?"

String groans as a foreign object gets through his skin, he just hopes it isn't anything deadly "So, who told you this then...?" the only gryphon he knew from a long time ago was the one who tried to kill him, and ended up killing his friend. The only gryphon String wants revenge on.

"It doesn't matter. They're dead now. The process we used to get the information, well... it left him out on a limb-" Tisis began snickering at his pun, glancing to the others in the room to see if they had noticed. Yes, the griffin was out on a limb, out on several limbs in fact.
"You're probably curious what I injected you with," Tisis stated, regaining his composure. "Its a synthetic chemical that we use to make this experience more expedited. Some chemicals try to force the person being interrogated to tell the truth, by causing severe physical pain on their person. This one does the opposite. Every time you tell the truth, the chemicals in your brain are going to react with this one, in such a way as to produce extreme hyper-ventilation and flushed reaction. That way, we can see when you're being honest."
"Now, for some test questions. Is your name, String Chord?"
